My parents and family members are bitching at me about paying 5 or 6 grand on a 1987 car. I cant get it through their head that its worth it because its the sport edition. Also because of my deap love for the car.
So im thinking of just saving and getting like a 95 or 96 c220 or 230. If i pay the extra 2 or 3 grand i get a new car. Which may or may not mean cheaper parts. Do they sell those cars in a stick? Prolly really rare. Dont get me wrong i really want a 190e 16v but are they really worth it because there so old.. Give me your two cents fellas! |

still worth it to me I think..although there's nothing like having a new benz, wether it be a c220 or ehem, an SLK 320. but I will say that I am partial to the older cars but because I like them and cheaper means I can collect more!!!!
Do your parents know benz's? are they paying for it?if not then make sure you buy a sweet one not all F****d up and lie to them about the age say umm 94(only if they don't know)  |

Its funny how you mention about the W202 c220 or c230 today. in performance wise... they (190E and C230 )are almost identical. i know someone is going to argue that.. in paper. of course w202 c220 or c230 is making more HPs than my car.. but in freeway speed traveling 60mph and bunch it toward 90mph. my 86 190E 8v has as much grunt as c230.. believe it or not... well. My brother have a 95 C200 in Taiwan.. overall.. the car is clean...nice.. lots of room to modify.. comfortable.. you will definately feel like home when you get inside of W202... and of course you can have more option to bigger engine. like the c280 or c36.. but in the long run...personally i would try to keep the 190E.. because it is very special.. without 190E.. there wouldn't be a c220. or c230.. to me is.. keep the 190E as a project car. and buy c220 as daily communter.. there.. enough said..

If you only have to pay a 2 to 3 grand extra, I would go with the c220. It is a better buy, from a financial stand point.

um, sorry to sellout on everyone but, if I could afford it, I would take ANY C-Class I could afford over a 190E

I drove a C220 and my opinion is that it is a dog. That body style and weight (I'm assuming they're considerably heavier than the 190e) needs a 6 cylinder at least. But that is compared to my 16v & E320, I'm definitely used to something with much more guts. I used to have a C280, that is a nice, smooth, much more powerful ride.

You do not make sense to me...
You are only willing to buy a 16V sport 190E, but you would settle for a gutless and pathetic C220 for more money? This is 190Revolution, and I think you should get a 190. If performance isn't important, get a 2.3 8V. If performance is important, get a 2.6 and convert it to stick. With your budget, you could easily do either. The 190 has way more character than a C class ever will.

  J/K one day my 8v will out perform any 16 v Obviously his parents are a big influence and thats ok he's young and I see where he's coming from.
