Oregon Sheriff Challenges the Authority of USFS
Oregon Sheriff Draws Line in the Sand; Challenges the Authority of USFS in
Grant County

obtain a copy of a letter written by Grant County, Oregon Sherrif Glenn E.
Palmer addressed to Teresa Raaf who is a Supervisor with the United States

Re: Oregon Sheriff Challenges the Authority of USFS
Thanks, MEG
Though I'm in Colorado, I appreciate Sheriff Palmer's tough stand against the encroachments of the USFS into law enforcement. I sent him a letter of thanks.

Re: Sheriff puts undersheriff on leave
People can be understandably upset at some overzealous USFS enforcement, but it's pretty much crazy to suggest they don't have jurisdiction in national forests. If that ever made it to court it would be laughed right out...
