Hello AGF

A few of you may have seen my name on the AMDS forum. I've been recreationaly prospecting for 15 years( and still don't know s***)

I'm currently preparing for our summer in the Nome area. I have some ground inland about 60 miles, that we'll be sampling with a 6" dredge.

I did all my staking and some prospecting last summer and even found a little color:smile:

Yes the date on the pic is right... finally got around to washing the cons almost a year later:confused:

Anyway thanks for looking!

Wow Dave nice spot (the hairpin turn in the river) I would love to get down twenty feet in that bottom right corner of your first pic, and follow bedrock down on that finger ridge sticking in the creek, nice nice spot and NICE gold too!

Re: Hello AGF

Stunning country, Dave, and pretty gold too. Looks like you're on to something very promising. Good fortune this season. My wife and I spent a couple weeks at a primitive camp about 80 mi N. of Nome a couple of years ago...great experience.

Re: Hello AGF

Muley; we have about 60 miles of road travel(approx) then about another 15-18 miles on the trail. Spoiled myself last summer, flew in on a heli:smile:

CDL; That haipin turn is definately a target! Unsure of bedrock depth there where it dips, but i would like to follow it down as far as i can.
This pic is the turn looking westerly

this pic is taken from the finger looking east... notice the creek fowing in... right at the bend of the main creek.

I'm curious as to effect of that inflowing creek on the possible paystreak. Would the incoming creek push it closer to the inside, or would the currents collide and create a drop zone in the middle somewhere? That small creek carries color as well, not sure if its native or reconstituted from bench gravels from the main creek.

This is another promising spot...maybe

the bedrock is shallow at least!
Looks like someone dredged this one for me!

I did find some color digging behind the bedrock(top left, you can see the start of my sample hole.

If you squint real hard... you can just make out the top of an old bucket chain dredge. It was headed my way, and didn't make it. Sucks for them...hopefully good for me!

Anybody... 5 gal bucket o DEET?
Seriously, anyone have any experience with the propane fired skeeter traps??

Re: Hello AGF

First post as a new AGF member, and since I'm headed to Nome (GPAA) in two weeks, I'm glad it's a related post. Sweet looking spot you got yerself! Bucketline down the hill? NOW you really have my attention! You have some really pretty gold there Dave, and I wish you all the luck. I'd love to do some diggin' up that inflowing creek, you have GOT to have a nice paystreak or three there at the junction.

Re: Hello AGF

Welcome, Arctic Dave, you too.Electrumau,

Thanks for posting those beautifull pics, nice chunky gold, too.

Mate, After twice as long as you at dredging, I still don't know that s**** either, haha,

I would suggest some small back hoe assistance for your 6", just a small tow behind your truck would help you heaps, ??.

Good luck to yous anyway,

dredger.

Re: Hello AGF

Might be a little hard to do that Dredger, He's 15 miles beyond the end of the road!
