I'M looking to start a crew to go up to Alaska and set up shop. I'm looking for a crew that has the funds to back there part. My company is well backed for my part plus more if needed. If you have ever thought about it this is the chance to do it. Please post back if you would like to talk more about it.

LOL... Yes I should of been clear on this... Ok I dont want folks like the gold rush jokes. What I'm looking for is someone with a claim that is willing to team up. I own a new 100tph. I would like to move it in the winter or fly it in. I hope to find a few good miners that are willing to put in the time. I have the right equipment just need the pay dirt.I have the funds to back most but I dont want to have to buy everything. This is not a weekend gig. I would like to run 24/7. its time to move dirt and get the yellow stuff. So if you would like to team up or can offer a lease on a claim please feel free to contact me. Thanks Nathan

What other equipment do you have to mate up with the wash plant? It looks to have low clearance and will have to have a road made to move it (a good road) which will require permits and a plan of operations to start. I know of several people looking to lease but they are in the field until freeze-up. Have you run the equipment enough to know your cut-off grade? Keep putting things together and something will come along.

Whoa dude, where you gonna take that in Alaska. You need to take that back and have them put some clearance under it. Maybe you could use something like them air shock low-rider car stuff under there. That way you can get the low CG for the highway and use air to jack it for off-highway.
I've traipsed over a good share of Alaska in the Army, as a AkDoF Fire Tech and as a prospector. No road system like the lower 48 states. The few trails are butt ugly rough and most only allow heavy traffic in the winter. This ain't Kansas Dorthy. Take offense if you feel offended. Bothers me not. It is only my opinion. Your money. Do as you will. Success is more about adaptability than capital investment. My opinion? Stay in the lower 48 or adapt. Uh, tph? I look at yards per hour. Maybe I'm being picky but "I" always associate tph with hard rock and yph with placer. In placer you gotta wash all the beaucoup rocks. In lode, you only process the tons worth running through the crusher. Lastly, new. You haven't run it? You don't know its stinking indiosycracies. How many tph have you actually run through this whiz-bang? Now ask yourself, would you gamble a season working with an untested and obviously flawed piece of transportable equipment not suited for most of Alaska's backcountry? Bubba in all honesty, I mean no offense. Don't hose yourself. It might be the best thing since sliced bread in the lower 48's accessability, but the clearance issue tells me this is ANOTHER "GOLD RUSH" TV SHOW if you don't adapt to the environment. Uh what about permits? Lotta hassle for a probable no-show. That being your no ground clearance and possibly untested plant under Alaskan conditions aka after too many miles of bad trail. BTW most efficient plants are designed for the character of the placer deposit. Hm, no claim and looking for one to partner up with. Which brings us full circle back to the adaptability issue. You ready to break out the cutting torch and welder? Bubba, I feel for you. Been there, done that and don't ever wanna do it again. Optimism will get you buying neat stuff without a good reason or need. You got no claim in Alaska, so why did you buy? You don't have to answer that to me or the forum. Keep it in perspective and realize the claim holder owns the gold. You are just a contractor that can be forced off the claim for non-compliance with the contract conditions. |

Are you looking to buy, lease, or stake claims? Do you want State or Federal Ground? How much ground do you need for a season? What size gold are you after or set up to recover? Are you looking for easily accessible ground or fly in? Most all mining ground has it's own peculiartity's, so is your equipment easily modifiable? When do you intend to start operations? Who will be responsible for all the paperwork and permits? Are you the same person that started this thread? What kind of split are you looking at and how many crew?
Just some of the ?'s that will need to be addressed. |

Sorry I was away so long, Here is the deal. I have made the call to dredge the sea off nome. I have bought the pontoon for this. I invested $20,000.00 into the pontoon from keene.. No claim needed no laws. The only law is no bigger then a 14in hose and no bigger then a 18hrs motor pumping it. So i need to find out how to get my truck and my pontoon there. Anyone know if so please email at northcountrypr@ymail.com. I would like info on the do's and donts. Maybe someone that has done it or is looking to do it. Thanks All

Wow. "No claim no laws".... if you really did just invest 20 grand, you're about to lose alot of damn money. There are MANY laws, and you can't just go dredging anywhere unless you want to end up as crab bait, everything worthwhile is claimed. What happened to your "100 tph" operation? A unit like that isn't cheap, I have a hard time believing anyone in their right mind would abandon a 100tph unit worth atleast 50,000$. The way you talk about dredging I get the feeling you haven't ever done it. If you really are coming to come expect to spend another 10-15 thousand dollars to ship your stuff, maybe more.

Why dig in the dirt when water is ez. The cost is why. I have lots of money and lots of free time. Now the laws on the sea are. No dredging 100yrs from shore. you may go anyplace you like. no one owns a claim in the water. I have spoke with the dnr and coast guard. they have told me with when and where. I do my homework. I'm not a dreamer I do. I own two we buy gold stores and a car lot and i'm 36yrs old. I have time and money and just want to hit the gold. Gold fever....We all have it...

There are no claims more than 1/4 mile offshore, those are called leases, and the entire area is leased up or claimed. AK_Au_Diver is absolutely right, anyone with mining experience can see the glaring holes and ignorant thoughts in your plan.
Sad thing is he's one of hundreds, possibly thousands of other people watching the show on discovery and thinking they can do the same or better. It takes hundreds, if not thousands of hours of real research and experience to be successful. Just because you see someone finding gold on T.V, doesn't mean you're able to do it. Oh well, let them blow all their cash and deal with whatever family stress that may cause them. It's unfortunate but reality. As a young lifelong resident I was hoping to make my first trip to Nome this year, but with things as they be I'll be going to good location not filled with crazies. I bet you I'll find more gold with a highbanker combo this summer than some of these guys blowing 20+ grand in Nome. P.S- According to Steve at AMDS, he, aswell as the DNR have been getting literally hundreds of calls a day from people asking questions like "Wheres the road to nome?" and "Wheres a good spot for me to get gold?" It's really unfortunate that locals seeking to get into mining as a lifelong career chances of learning from a willing PRO are becoming harder and harder to find due to the onslaught of requests from idiots. |

northcountrypr, You need to read this web site, it was posted on another thread by a knowledgeably Nome dredger.
http://www.usofau.com/category/first-hand-mining-experiences/ There are a lot of dredgers from the lower 48 that would love to try Nome. The largest stumbling block is lack of funds. It would seem you have that handled. Next getting access to gold. That is almost as big a problem but if you have the time and money you should be able to locate and sub lease a spot. Building a dredge that will work up there will require you hiring someone familiar with Nome dredging. If you try to do it your self or get someone from the lower 48 to help you plan on spending at least the first year modifying it to work up there. If you overcome all of the above and have a few weeks of decent weather you may find gold, but not likely anywhere near what your first year will cost you. I have been dredging 22 years and would dredge Nome in a heartbeat. However there is no way I could afford the investment or the likely lack of profit. |

Yeah Man,all youve got to do is get together with the guy thats got new tires and chains on his truck and just drive down the Yukon River to Nome.People die doing crazy things without research or listening to others,that may or may not know more.You started this post out by wanting another dumb TV show,well try dredging on some one elses claim. Heck years ago a claim holder got mad at me for driving my dredge thru his claim.Theres lots of guns in Nome,and most claims/leases are 1/4 mile from shore,so what caliber is needed for that shot?ha ha Good Gold to ALL and the ability to understand:smile:

I,m looking to set up a nome gold dredge. I would like to find someone that has done this before... I have money to back allot of the cost but there are no freebees here. I will be working the dredge along side this person. I'm looking to go big or stay home. I dont want to be like the folks on the show. Everything on this dredge must be new or close to it. Down time dont pay bills. I would also like feedback on claims someone that owns one and is willing to take a cut. |

Ha ha ha ha Yes, I was kidding when I suggested it as well, but theres some Koreans walking across the Bering Sea right now, so anythings possible.Theres plenty of room for dredgers in Nome this summer,they will be paying premium prices for everything.Most will spend thousands and lose everything,but theyll have a great experience. I second the idea of if your interested in coming to Nome, go to the GPAA camp. They supply you with everything and plenty of knowledge to use a a base camp to research more information,if you dont have the thousand or so a week to go there,dont bother coming up. Youll be walking around going to the senior center once a day to eat and get warm and even they will become over whelmed. Good Gold to all

We stopped by the senior center 1 time just to see what was there. We didn't eat or wash any clothes though. We usually went to the visitors center or to the library to use the computers and get warm. We went over to the rec center 1 day to get a shower and get cleaned up after they came to where we were sitting one morning eating breakfast and they opened the window next to us. We took the hint. northcountrypr - I'm taking it from the e-mail I received that you have abandoned Nome for the time being?
I'm in the interior and not near chicken but there are several that frequent here that are. You have still not answered the questions posted prior. Is the only piece of equipment you currently have what you pictured? If so people need to know so those without earthmoving equipment don't bother responding. |

What is their part? I love Alaska and have gone up their for the last three years. To come and go is one thing, to try and stay their is another. Their is just know where to stay or live and it cost to much to buy property. I was, or still am thinking of taking a boat up to Alaska just to have a place to live while looking for equipment to build a dregde. I'm very interest in going back up to Alaska and checking Nome. Their are two places in nome where you do not need a prospecting permit. Every where else, if you find a place to prospect is going to caust for prospecting permit. The first year is not to bad, but the second, third and forth year, unless you found minerals. The average person could not afford to renew the permit, and the claims go back to the State. jameswcave@hotmail.com

James what are you talking about? Where are these two mythical places in Nome that you don't need a permit to operate a dredge? You sound like you have some info right, but are confusing other stuff. Leases, claims, APMA permits, claim fees, lease fees, etc. |

The average hunting rifle in Alaska is a 338 weatherbe or larger and with a good scope. A mile and a half will more than reatch a 1/4 mile off shore as you'll be a sitting duck in water with no place to go.
