From Siskiyou Daily News
http://www.siskiyoudaily.com/topstories/x1622354387/Courthouse-burglarized Yreka, Calif. — YREKA –At approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Siskiyou County Courthouse was burglarized and several millions of dollars-worth of gold was stolen from the glass case at the courthouse entrance, said Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) Public Information Officer Allison Giannini. According to Siskiyou County Treasurer Wayne Hammer, the total value of the gold in the case was $3 million. The total value of what was stolen is still being ascertained. Giannini said that the suspects also burglarized two downstairs courthouse rooms, though information regarding any missing items from those rooms is not available at this time. Officials from the Yreka Police Department (YPD) and SCSO responded to the courthouse at 7:10 a.m. and discovered that there was an open (not broken) window in the back of the courthouse, said Giannini. Investigators viewed the security cameras and a preliminary investigation revealed that the burglary was carried out by two men. The suspects broke a hand-sized hole in the glass encasement that contains the gold. They took the large pieces of gold and left the small pieces, said Giannini. “The object that was used to break the glass had be something heavy because that is thick, unbreakable glass,” said Giannini. It is unknown at this time whether the alarm sounded following the break-in. The length of time the suspects were in the building is also unknown at this time. Asked whether this burglary could have been an inside job, Giannini responded, “We are investigating every possible avenue at this time.” The courthouse entrance, including the elevator, was taped off as of noon Wednesday for authorities to process the crime scene. Court-goers entered the building from the back, where officials used magnetic wands to perform security checks. Those in wheelchairs had to be maneuvered up the stairs to the courtroom, as the elevators were part of the crime scene. Updates will be posted on Siskiyoudaily.com as information becomes available. An article about the burglary will appear in the Thursday edition of the Siskiyou Daily News. Hoser John (Mt Shasta CALI respected old-timer/goldminer) reports 28 oz only stolen. That rules out theft of the SHOE NUGGET...which reportedly weighs 8# acc'd to the Siskiyou Cty Treas. in vid clip below, and purportedly responsible for the display and security of this S.C. treasured asset.
Always trust the vetted miner on the ground than the snoozing bureaucrat 3 floors up and several offices over. Ignore invisible, donut-gulpin', rotund security officers totally not visible in security camera footage at 1AM PST footage on 2.1.2012, and released by S.C. Sheriff 2.3.2012 http://youtu.be/3qqmljhWwCI is Huell's short vid interview and various tight shots taken in 2007 and re-uploaded onto YT by reddingnews (purportedly of Redding CALI) 2.3.2012 28oz = $3MIL in valuation? Man, but I gotta get me some Yreka Nuggets!!!!!!!!!! WHEW! |

I, also, wish a speedy and successful apprehension of those two dirt bags who so disrespected all those who cherished that display every day.
Here's to a quick apprehension and a speedy trial. Joe |

The S.C.Treasurer (2007 film clip) stated "Shoe" weighed 8# when he handed it to the T.V. interviewer, Heull.
Heull's video is posted in the Heull thread above from 2007 for that quote, toward the end when he was horsing around after the Treasurer had opened the case so that he could hand Heull the "shoe" for closer inspection. |

I don't care what the video said, it was a 28 ounce nugget.
I've seen it hundreds of times. Never went by it without stopping and looking. |
