Times are little tough these days and I cannot forsee going out and spending a whole stack of cash for a top-o-line model. Is the 150 Ace even worth the time for nuggeting/gold. I wouldnt buy a Chevy Aveo to haul home plywood from Home Despot, but it could be done. Just wondering if such a lower end entry model would be any good in ground where others have already been with better units. Thanks!

Hi,
Any detector can find gold if it is large enough or shallow enough. The 150 cannot ground balance (it is preset at the factory) and so leaves you at a decided disadvantage. So can you follow others with better units and have much of a chance? No. Could you maybe find a nugget anyway. Well, nothing is impossible. The key is the operator. Give me a 150 and I'll take it out and eventually find a gold nugget with it. If you are really on a budget and want to give it a go, the only real option in my opinion is to look for a used detector that was made for nugget detecting. Like a White's Goldmaster II or the old Tesoro Diablo. The least expensive new detector I'd use is the Tesoro Vaquero. |
