Lead was once considered a strategic metal. One of the original Dow Industrials was American Lead.

Why is lead a strategic metal?

Because of its "stopping power". A nation cannot defend its self from invasion nor can its citizens defend themselves from tyranny without lead.

Lead in the riparian environment is a strong poison.

The Rogue River of Oregon is bottom coated with fishing and skeet lead. Dredgers have recently documented recovery of hundreds of pounds. California dredgers used to clean lead from mining claims by the ton annualy.

I can't grasp the logic in closing down the primary smelter while the environment of America continues to suffer from lead poisoning. I mean, the smelter does positive productive service, while the sportsmen's misuse of that product, is slowly killing the water supplies.

Anyone that believes any of the BS that comes out of the California enviro sources is nuts.

The lead propaganda really represents the ROOT CAUSE of the problems facing the mining industry today.

Birds die every day. How can it be proven what they died from - unless the lead poisoning came from a fatal shotgun shot?
