Metal detector

It is my understanding that a metal detector will not pick up on fine

beach gold. My question is will it pick up on say 4" to 6" of black

sand? If you could pick up on the b/s it might just have

some gold in it. Maybe just wishful thinking.

Gold Tender,

If you're in a past producing gold area then you greatly up the chances of finding more gold with more black sand. What I've used is a White's GMT which shows you the type and amount of black sand and yes it works very well. I've used it out in the gold fields of the N.W. Mojave and here in the hills and mountains of Los Angeles with great success.
If you don't want to put out the big bucks for a GMT, a low cost way would be to buy an old BFO metal detector (I just bought a Garrett BFO in working condition for $9.99 off ebay and so I have my GMT for sale there as well).

Good luck!

Randy

Rany
Can yo give a little more detail on how you use your GMT to identify high concentrations of black sand.
I have a gmt, but have never used it for this function. Where I prospect there is black sand in every pan, but would be interesting to find the hot spots.

Thanks for your help

Don't know if this will help, but I'll post the link anyways. This guy has some other videos that are really good too.
