Paying Further Claim Rental Question

Yes, I could call the DNR but I thought other new claim owners might want this info too.

I purchased a claim on state land this last Winter. When it comes to paying further claim rental am I considered for years 0-5 or do you go by total time claim existed? I would think as a new owner it would be years 0-5 but want to make sure. Thanks

Re: Paying Further Claim Rental Question

I'm pretty sure it goes by the number of years that the claim has been registered.

Re: Paying Further Claim Rental Question

I think Dennis is spot on.
The state doesn't care how many owners the claim has had...they just want the money....determined by date of location of the claim...

Re: Paying Further Claim Rental Question

This is from the DNR,

"The rental is based on the posting date. If it is on State-Selected land, rental starts on the date of Tentative Approval. Ownership has nothing to do with it."

As long as the ADL # stays the same (selling it to someone) the rate will continue to increase, if the claim becomes abandoned then refiled on the rate starts over.

This is the way I thought it was, but now I know for sure. Thanks for the info, Brian.
