bazooka sluice box

Has anybody used one of these? If so, do they work? Kinda seems like the miner getting mined to me. Their web site dosn't say much about its design.

Your correct the u-tube picture doesn't show much more than the web site. From what I can see it looks like the original Black Magic sluice that was made by Howard Schmidt, the inventor of the Schmidt Bazooka. If it is the same they do work well if you take the time to set them up properly.

Yeah, it would be nice if they showed a guy how it works. What traps the material? Since you can't see any material building up, how offten do you perform a clean up? Makes it seem too easy. Imagine that, a miner complaining about a device that makes mining easy.

Re: bazooka sluice box

My knowledge is limited to the original Schmidt Black Magic sluice. The sluice has a small boil box chamber mounted under the flat sluice surface. The box has tubes running to it fro, the front end to cause a boiling action. Your material flows down the surface of the sluice and is classified by the grizzly. Large rocks go out the end, smaller stuff drops into the box. The boiling action causes the heavies to settle and the light sands to rise up and be swept away by the main water flow. Unless you are in a lot of black sand you could easily clean up once a day if you could wait that long.
