Lost person maybe at Steese highway mine?

I was going to research this on the DNR website and look for mine owned by a person with the last name of Tyrell.

Since my skills aren't the best maybe someone more familiar with it could do it. It'd be a real bummer for the lady to be up there and lost or in trouble..

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A Wasilla man says his 68-year-old mother is missing, traveling in a black SUV with two parrots.

Terry Tyrell says it no surprise that Carlyn "Sue" Tyrell took a trip to Fairbanks, but it's odd two weeks have passed without a call.

He says gasoline was purchased in Fairbanks with her bank card on July 4.

Tyrell says the family owns a mine on Steese Highway but he doesn't know the purpose of her trip. He says a family friend told him about it.

Alaska state troopers have her listed as missing.

She is described as 5-feet-8 and 220 pounds with gray hair and glasses, walking with a cane.

Her 1998 Ford Explorer has license plate HAH682.

akbushcop… it looks like she has 3 claims (¼-¼) on Butte Creek not far from the highway.

Thanks. I tried to look it up last night and the site must have been down or I was doing something wrong.

If she made it to the claims ,there are two 75 year old guys mining the two claims above her.they were going to be there thru middle of July. She would have to cross Birch Crk to get to her claims. The flood at the end of June messed up the trail for hyway vehicles. We left the weekend end before the the 4th as we have claims farther up. the guys usally come out every 2 -3 days.
There also was a couple camped at the edge of Birch Crk where the trail starts.I will be back there the 1st of the month. Mike

Well, if she is still missing, I hope someone follows up on that explorer parked there.
License number would solve that issue.

This lady is still missing. Steese Highway miners should keep a close look out for her. I bet she was headed up there and took a wrong turn somewhere.

FAIRBANKS — A grandmother from Wasilla remains missing, and authorities said they have few leads as to her whereabouts.

Carolyn “Sue” Tyrrell, 68, told a friend on July 4 that she was headed to Fairbanks. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

“We haven’t received any tips,” Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. “She could be anywhere.”

At least 30 friends and relatives have searched campgrounds, side roads and pullouts along the Parks Highway and highways north of Fairbanks, said Terry Tyrrell, the missing woman’s son.

“We’ve probably got 100 flyers out,” he said.

Tyrrell is believed to be traveling in her black 1998 Ford Explorer — license plate HAH682 — with two parrots.

She is 5-feet-8 and 220 pounds with blue eyes, gray hair and glasses. She walks with a cane, her son said.

Tyrrell’s bank card shows she purchased fuel in Fairbanks, her son said.

The family and authorities are evaluating cell phone records in search of clues, he said.

“It might give us a timeline of when she actually got to Fairbanks,” Terry Tyrrell said. “We are kind of in the dark about when she got to Fairbanks.”

The family has a mine at 98 Mile Steese Highway, but there’s no sign of Tyrrell there, her son said.

Anyone with information about Tyrrell’s whereabouts is asked to call the Palmer trooper detachment at 352-5401.
