Any Mining Stores in Fairbanks or near by....

Next year I will be in the Circle Mining District for the summer. I hope that what I bring for spare parts, et. will get me through the season.

Now for Murphy's Law.... When I need that part I didn't bring is there a mining store in the Fairbanks area. I would think so but searching on the internet I don't see any listed. Wish Steve's AKmining was closer....

Fairbanks is not as remote as you think.
There is a Keene dealer here in Fairbanks called the Alaskan Prospector run by Dr. Jim Madonna a geologist.
There is Test the Waters which will cover diver suits and regulator repair.
And there is a dredge business in Ester on the old Rich, I forgot his name but he builds and sells dredges.
We have Alaska rubber and Denali Fasteners for all your hard ware, hoses, and fasteners.
For small engine repair: Rod's saw shop is a good outfit.
There are also several local business specialising in fabrication of aluminum and steal.
Skip Olsen on the airboat forum fabricates aluminum with his business of boat building.
Where in Circle are you going? And what type of equipment do you have? And where are you coming from?

Thanks for the info. I'll print that off.

My cousin and I will be up on Butte Creek. I bought a claim up there last Winter. I live in Wisconsin and I have Proline equipment. I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a supply of Wisconsin Beef Sticks and Cheese along...........

If you do go visit Dr. Jim Madonna at Alaskan Prospector, leave some spare time to sit and talk with him. He is a fascinating man. He has written several books about the Alaska Gold Trails. I just finished Alaska Gold Trails IV, the story of Felix Pedro.

Jim took about an hour out of his day this summer and educated me about the geology around Fairbanks. I just sat and listened. For that, I am thankful.

Also, he is not open every day. I think it is Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from around 10AM to 4PM.

Lastly, turn your cell phone off before you go into his shop....

Jim Madonna, Alaska Prospectors Supply

Jim is the master. He may know more about your claim then you do. It's well worth the hour or two that you spend in there talking to him. Leave your cell phone in the car.
