I really wouldn't have a problem with this if California had a management system.. Fortunately this wolf is perhaps the only wolf in California which is a good thing. He isn't a threat to multiplying and he surely wont be bringing down any wild deer or elk by himself.

But.. if California embraces the wolf and other wolves then Cali is in for a big suprise, apparently they haven't learned from the Coyote and how thier states protectionism measures have now backfired on residents whose cats and dogs have become din-din for willey coyote.

I would imagine without socialization and without a consistent diet this particular wolf could become a very desperate wolf and potentially act more brazzen then he would in a normal pack... just my 2 cents.

Wolves in CA, if started, will do to the deer herds what they are/did doing in Idaho, etc to the elk herds. Almost wipe areas out.

Elk seasons were cancelled or adjusted because of the shortage of elk.

I concur. If wolves were introduced it would be devestating

I don't think a lone wolf would have any problem bringing down a deer by itself.

Wolves aren't ambushers like the wild cats. Wolves are very dependent on a group to hunt. Doubt that wolf has the endurance to run a deer to ground. And if it did manage to grab a hock he better shred it good cause he's not going to get any help putting the deer down..
