Not sure what you mean Michelle. You said when you PM a "letter", does that mean you are copying and pasting a letter into the PM window?

The font on the forums is set in the programming and is the same for everyone. If you are copying and pasting, it may be carrying the formatting of the document you are copying from.

The only other way the font can change is in your computer font settings that you choose in your computer's "control panel."

Let me know if this helps please,

Jim

Question. What do the symbols (the nugget in the far left column, the flashing fire, and the magnifing glass or the subject column) mean? What causes them to appear sometimes?

Hi Jim,

The nugget in the prospecting forum or fish hook or whatever in the left colums denotes subjects you have not read. Once you read them and/or if you click "Mark Forum Read", they will disappear until a new thread or reply is posted.

The page with the fire on it denotes a "hot thread" one that has received a lot of replies.

The magnifying glass in the subject colum is not a magnifying glass, but a push pin/ It denotes a thread I have pinned to the top of the forum, so that it doesn't move down the page like normal threads do.

Hope that clarifies for you.

Hi Jim

One idea for you to mull over....

It would be nice if I put a big shiny icon for Alaska Prospecting Forum on my computer and then just press it to link in. This is just idleness on my part

But, more interestingly for us all, the same icon could be put in websites by webmasters as a link to the Forum, And there are clearly quite a few webmasters in the Forum - should drum up some new members m'thinks.

Keep up the terrific service!

cheers

Steppe

Is there a definition of what the icons mean on the main page? The gold nugget? The flaming document?

Thanks,

Mark

Thank you,
Muley

No, sorry Muley. There is no board function to attach a PDF file. Try converting it to an M.S Word document then attach that.

If not, just follow Jim's instructions in the first post and type "eagle" as your search word....

Re: Helpful Forum Tips ( 15:50:09 MonJan 18 2016 )

Hello Jim. I have a suggestion that might be of help to others, as well as to me. At the bottom of each page is a series of very small numbers - page numbers. If you're on page 1, click on the 2 to go to page 2. At the same time, I read where many folks have a hard time reading the small text. Seems they would also have a more difficult time clicking on the tiny numbers. So my suggestion is, to add a <Previous> and a <Next> with the small page numbers - give us old geezers a larger target to click on.

Another possibility might be to make an extended pages drop-down menu, like the emoticons have. That would make it easier to get farther back into the postings - unless there is already a way that I don't yet know. ...After all, I'm such an old hand at this!
