Even though I am fishing the road system, people have been telling me to hike away from the road to catch the bigger fish. Do most of these streams have primative trails along them or will it be very difficult walking? Also, along the Parks highway one person suggested instead of fishing down to the mouth of the river (west), they said to go in the opposite direction. Less people and you might find a nice amount of fish. Any truth to that? Thanks.

getting away from the road and people has always proved to have a positive effect on success as well as quality. Most streams and rivers have game trails and such that you can use or you can just fight the willows. Be sure you are plenty noisy while travelling these areas as to make sure the local wildlife is aware you are in the area. Most generally if they know you are there....you don't have much to worry about. A momma moose will definately come after you if you happen out all of the sudden from the willows and close to her calf....not to mention the bears.
