Scones with a can of lemonade in them

Ok, I can cook ok, at least no one is brave enough to complain, but one thing I do admit trouble with is making scones. My scones are hopeless!

I had a recipe from someone I did antenatal with ... 4 years ago... whoah! but i have lost the recipe and also lost touch with the cook!

The recipe has all the usual ingred, but also a can of lemonade and I think a small carton of cream... decadent and not the most healthy, but they were GOOD scones and no fail, she said.

Anyone familiar with the recipe?

Ali

Don't look at me! If it doesn't come in a packet then I don't cook it!

I've ordered a cakes and biscuits book from the kinder here which I should get next week i'm pretty sure and it had a scones recipe in it if you are willing to wait i'll post it for you when I receive the book doubt it would have the can of lemonade though but you could just add it. The other alternative is doing a search on google for scones.

I've just done a search and here's one

Lemonade Scones
Friday, 5 March 2004

A quick and easy scone recipe, using lemonade.

This quick and easy scone recipe has received some glowing reports from 891 Morning listeners who've given it a go. One man even claimed it was better than his Mum's - high praise indeed.

It's all in the ingredients. Just three of them - lemonade, cream and flour.

How to make your lemonade scones.
Ingredients:

1 cup of lemonade
1 cup of cream
3 cups of self-raising flour

Preheat oven to very hot 220C.
Add lemonade and cream to flour, mix to form soft dough, then place mixture on floured surface.
Knead dough to a 2 cm thickness and cut with a floured cutter.
Place close together on tray, brush with whisked egg and bake for 10 - 15 minutes.

Ive made scones from lemonade before and I got the recipe from the ninemsn fresh tv site as that is where i saw it - from memory it is very similar to what mels posted but i think i added a pinch of salt as well
and I just brushed the top with some milk instead of egg

My sister bakes scones with lemonade ~ they come out so fluffy!

All the times I have tried to bake scones, I have failed miserably.

Alison - try it with the lemonade I made some the other day to take to work and they were delish - so light and fluffy. I used pure cream as the fat content is higher than the thickened cream and that is what replaces the butter in them

Ang, they do sound delish, but now my oven is broken. I'll have to try them when I get it fixed. Or I could just come 'round to your house.

Re: Scones with a can of lemonade in them

Weeeeellllll... I didn't write down the recipe... 'its so simple, I can remember THAT'... and I was trying to do a million things at once, so I stuck it in the bread maker to mix it (and WHY NOT???!) so I ended up with a huge mess because I got the proportions all wrong... I think... a can of lemonade is only 375 ml isn't it? LUCKILY... my Yoga teacher was having a special Yoga Nidra class that I found I could attend at the last minute cos my vomiting was behaving and Michael came home especially to send me to it... so I went to that and he fixed the mess!!! hee hee
