Yep agree Muscoviet Mosquito is definately up ther very nice 18 with varied moves and sustained for the grade (Nice work Chris & Nick), I think Lunatic next to it is actually only 17 which would make it a contender for that grade.

I don't understand Professor Wigginsworth's classic status at all. It certainly wouldn't rate a mention in the mountains, and lets face it, many people drive for more than an hour to get to Barrenjoey. Why not put in the extra driving time and get on some real classics at Piddo?
That said, I do want to get on Central Pillar of Mordor. Edited to add: So what is the word on The Fear? Hypothetically speaking, of course. |

my mate did the fear at the end of last year and and from the sounds of it jjdisco description is right. he said the ss bolts were good. but i remember the first pitch as being alright though, i liked it.
i've done the fear 6 or 7 times, but not for about 8 years. it,s definately the one route that anyone living in sydney and calling themselves a climber should do. but i'm glad as hell that i've done it because i would hate to do it again. when my mate did it last year he was seconding under the roof/traverse when he stopped to take out gear. it's easy climbing there and he was relaxed and holding on to a big jug while he took out a threaded sling. next thing he knows the chunk of rock he's holding onto has broken and he's sailing through the air towards the opera house. later, while sitting in the corso he had to buy two lattes before he managed to get a drop to his lips. |

Was going to add 'Ladder of Gloom' (I though it was 18). But it seems to have already had many mentions. Great route for photos too (just scramble up slab to the left).
Nostalgic climb for me as my first ever lead... On a new rope, with a girlfriend who i'd just shown how to belay, and I wasn't carrying enough draws for all the bolts. OK now I feel old. |
