Re: Thompsons Sunrise

When is the first week of the school holidays? I'll be down there from 5-9 of July. Is it that week? I'm going to be at TP mostly. It's just so nice!

If you've got no one to climb/stay with (will probably be staying in luxury [read: little house]) email me. danieljohnwebster@hotmail.com

Hey Josh,

So I guess you still haven't done Jack High? How was last weekend at the Mtns? I heard you were dangling on "Equaliser". Did you climb anything else besides Jack High? Will you be heading up ths weekend?

Re: Thompsons Sunrise

i went up to the mountains with the expectation of just staying behind the lens, but when we got to shipley mitch quickly had me convinced to jump on jack high- i had one very half hearted effort, belayed mitch on a couple of his 'warmups' (sandwhiches and hot flyer from memory) then i jumped back on with a bit more determination...i got the whole way up but for some stupid f**king reason i slipped off of the last move (to that huge ledge)- took the fall and then finished and lowered off. i should have gotten on it straightaway and finished the bastard off, but by that time the local hardmen had finished warming up and were starting on the hard stuff so i cleaned the line and got the camera out (and im resigned to say again- 'next time'.)
mitch had a good shot on iron mike, but his tips were very screwed up and the crux was ripping them to pieces and he too must return another day.
i got a line fixed on the anchors above equaliser wall and jumared around gettin in everyones way to take photos of lee cossy on (i think it was) poopherator (31), and a couple locals (who's names i forget) on equaliser and demoraliser.
my rope was getting in the way of climbers at the anchors, the the line was dropped and i got a ground stance to take some pics of Vince Day on Truck Stop.
the end

Karen and I dropped in and had a look at Thompson's Sunrise on the weekend.... sure is a lot of rock down there, and some pretty good looking stuff, especially lots of potential in the under 20 grades.
After seeing some of the stuff you are into, Rod, I would think you would love the place.... pretty easy to bolt, too, with 5 minute access to the top and 6 minutes to the bottom of the cliff!
