I was too excited about the new routes I spied, so I drilled them up, and did a bit more work on the path. I rapped down and check out Hecules, etc. They look so gold, but the bolts are rusty as. More work next weekend.
Has anyone climbed OZONE Action, I am going to install lower offs, but what to the masses thing about the rest of it. I have seen several dudes climb it - They seem to clip the bolts on the 16s which is off route ... |

Some anchors on the top out of "Ozone action" would be great but maybe put them between the two routes to allow lowering off between that route and the 22 to the left?
Could you extend "inchworm goove" to top out? might make a great climb better or maybe crap? I will be down there Saturday so if you some help I will be there after about 12pm.. |

Yeah Good Idea. That 23 on the left is gold and is on the rebolt list as well.

It's quite hard to half height, then can finsh up a variety of easy routes, the only reason it has an anchor is so people can work it on toprope, it might be easier to set one up from the top, but there's moe ropedrag |

Ozone action is an excellent climb. Heading R at the top to clip those short 16's is way off route, but is probably done because the top bolt was super crap back in '95 when I last did it. I'd rebolt that bit too. The bottom is probably fine (FH's from memory) and then it's natural to the crap bolt on the face. What are the bolts like on Vitez/Get Out of town (whichever one it is that is bolted)?

Just an update from Cathedral
My new route is gold, but will looks like its a 5 or 6, so it will be a project for a while. OZONE Action (17). 2nd hanger replace, dodgy carrot up high replaced with a ring. Still very exciting between bolts, make sure you carry a couple of CAMs if you dont feel solid 2 - bolts - CRAG CLASSIC !! Creature Feature (23). New Lower Offs installed. (These can be shared with OA). 3 bolts replaced, and an extra added for the traverse from OA. Ths can be clipped on OA if your not feeling solid. (5 bolts) Bolts remaining: 2 Plus new donation of $10 from a dude at the crag. New for next week. Cosmic Cruncher, Neuron Nerd, Cathedral Quack, Suicidal Tendecies (all16) - 2 Sets of lower offs will be installed for these 4 16's. Great Begineers climbing. Hercules (22) - 8 bolts and Lower off to be replaced. Has anyone got some spare cash. We need a few $$ to buy bolts for Hercules. http://www.climbinganchors.com/Donate.htm |

You adding an extra bolt to Hercules bundy?
Also, how good are the bolts on the 16's before the lower offs? Do they need replacing? |

Mate
Went down to Cathedral on the weekend via your new "track" I think the new access is not the best as you are parking in a dead end street and cutting a new track to an area where a walking track is already established. possible problems are Parking - ie there is none Neighbors - I recived a bit of a "death stare" from a dog walker / local. If you want to use it go for it but rebolting an area encorages new users and the old area is better suited for more cars to park also publishing a new access on www.climb.org.au will mean people use it. I can see the point for re bolting (much quicker with a big pack) but maybe keep it under you hat as an access and change the access on the site to the old "rock guide" walk in. |

Went with RJS to Cathedral via what is euphemistically refered to as a 'track'.
I had my uggies on - not the best move. Does it need a new track? The river side track is fine |

bundybear 02:10:45 Wed Jul 5 2006 Unavailable 1322 posts Net addict - someone take me climbing Reply |
The new track is new, ie not well established.
I think the main reason why the cathedral does not get many visitors is because it takes 1/2 hour to walk in. If dudes can walk there in 5 to 10 min it will get heaps more visitors. I will add the original access to the guide on climb.org.au as well. Then people can walk in either way. |
