Posticons, Emoticons

Okies.....i read the thread regarding this question, and on my screen here at home NONE of the "Posticons" show up and only some of the "Emoticons" appear in the window. I have the "popup blocker" turned OFF on my computer. On my computer @ work everything works fine and I can see ALL the emoticons and posticons. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on ? one more thingy...where the posticons and emoticons are... there is a box with a red X in it. I DONOT have a checkmark in the "Disable Smiles" box or one in the "Disable Bbcode" box either.....whatevah they are ???

I use a photo hosting website to host all of my pics that I use to post on the BBS. Its this http://www.imageshack.us. Just copy and past the URL into your browser and sign up.. then start uploading your photos.

After you do that, you can copy and past the code they generate for you to do an image... and you can post images in your User CP area under personal images. Its easy.. it can happen! If you need help.. Genie is really great at pointing in the right direction.

If I'm getting this right, it sounds like the problem is that you're not seeing the icons we have hosted already...not stuff that you're trying to upload yourself, right?

I don't know how much a popup blocker would affect icons, but possibly your firewall could? Trying to think....seems like I remember folks who used Norton products had a problem similar to this awhile back. Do you use their anti-virus or internet security program by any chance, Duck?

Re: Posticons, Emoticons

I know that BbBoards disabled remote loading some time back because of bandwidth theft. So basically that means that some people who use firewalls (most notably Norton Internet Security) end up getting red x's instead of images. I'm thinking that's likely the problem here.

I know each firewall has a way for you to go in and manually set permissions for individual sites, but I have no idea what the specific steps for your firewall might be. Maybe you could ask your nephew if he could check it or tell you how. Hope you get it sorted out.
