Presently five Raptors flew up the rise from the valley with their jump packs barely making any noise. In combat a setting was changed to make them emit howling as they charged, but for scouting purposes they were quieter than the transports. Their leader landed and walked over to where the chaos lord was waiting. "No sign of the Tau from here to the hive, my lord." Jossat nodded satisfied at the report. "Good. Have your squad form a perimeter to the North and South of the road and follow us once we've passed." He turned to the leader of the squad of marines in his rhino. "Sergeant Closk, once we've breached the Hive's outskirts you will take your squad and squad Argos to the Southwest district and find a location to observe the lower spires. I'll take the rest of the marines North of the river to see who is occupying the factories." "Aye sir." The Raptor champion took off back the way he and his squad came as Jossat clambered back into the transport which sped off into the valley and towards Vulcanis Hive. |

![]() * * * * * “My lord, we have intercepted an Imperial transmission.” The marine handed a piece of paper to the chaos lord. “Hmmmm, it seems they have lost track of one of their archotech recovery teams near here.” He looked up from the paper. “Gather the men, we should be able to scout the area before they even arrive.” * * * * * Another round of Reaper Launcher fire reached out and strafed the position of the Havocs across the street from where Jossat was crouching. More marines in the squad screamed and went down, the rest cowering under the Eldar weapons striking from all sides. A rhino in the street was hit by a series of lasers and skid sideways as a track flew loose and it overturned onto its side. “Sir, they surrounded us!” “Dammit, where is Closk?!” Jossat could see through the smoke in the street the bodies of 4 men with Imperial garb, their bodies with no marks but perfect round holes drilled into their heads. In between them lay a large round Imperial canister and the Eldar appeared to not want anyone else to claim it. Suddenly the air around the chaos lord and his bodyguard cracked and then a tear of realspace appeared over them. Sickly purple and green light shone from the tear and hurricane force winds tore at the men and debris, sucking it into the warp. The tear increased in size forming a jagged line meters in length. “QUINTARA SAVE US!” Jossat yelled as members of his squad were either sucked wholly into the tear or ripped in half by the shearing gravitational forces. Jossat could feel half his body being lifted into the void, while some other force held him forcibly to the ground. Then as quickly as it started, the barrage of the Distort Cannons ended and the relative silence of the battle returned. Jossat looked up from where he was on the ground and saw half his squad gone, most of the rest torn to pieces. Fury gripped him as he stood and he charged out to where the canister waited. “You bastards!” he cried as sniper fire lifted puffs of dust on the pavement around him, “If I can’t have the prize, no one can!” He lifted his combi-flamer and trigged the one use flamer. Prometium ignited as it poured over the container and melted it and the surrounding pavement into bubbling slag. He looked up as the small amount of fuel the weapon contained was spent. Two advancing wave serpents came to a simultaneous stop around twenty meters away, weapons focused on him. But instead of firing they banked to opposite directions and accelerated off, the sound of their motors soon gone. All around the chaos lord the sounds of battle died away as the Eldar disappeared as quickly as they had arrived. Over the comm-net squads were reporting the same thing. The Eldar were gone. ![]() ![]() |

First combat patrol Corey's guardians were outmatched by a charging assault squad and that's all there is to it. In the Second combat patrol, Corey's Dark Reapers and Scoprions proved to be up to the task and took out my forces with ease. In the main game, I was totally obliteratored. By the end of the game I had killed one model (a wraithlord) and destroyed one twin linker missile launcher on a tank. In return, all of my army was dead except one squad, part of another, and my character. Devstated. The only reason I got a draw out of the third game was because Corey didn't land his wave serpents on top of the objective and allowed enough room for me to slip one guy from the scoring unit I had left in closer to the objective then he was. We called it a draw. I swear, Eldar tanks continue to be the bane of my life. I had 5 glancing hits throughout the game and got only one result greater then 3 (the four that blew off the missile launcher). I only got one stunned which was downgraded to shaken by the Spirit Stone. I shot plasma pistols and bolters into the rear armour of one, twin linked metlaguns from Obliterators, and two rounds of shooting from the havocs with two lascannons and a missile launcher, and almost nothing to show for it. Ouch. It took the sacrifice of the Obliterators and a second squad to take down the one wraithlord. Ouch. Regardless of the frustrations, it was an enjoyable game. I wish it had been closer for more excitement, but not every game can be as awesome as the Eldar Megabattle. ![]() |

I like the 'close-to-the-ground' shots, they make it look so realistic. I don't know why people don't take more shots like that. 2 thumbs up! |
