I find FoW to be the best wargame I have ever played in terms of representing vintage combat. Many of the gameisms are not present and it is totally objective based. I have a large Canadian force, mid war, and a lot of extra bits that can be used for any common wealth country.

Oooo you can build a Canadian force?
That's appealing.

Hey, I was thinking of eventually (read: sometime in the far far future... perhaps) getting a Canadian mid to late war army. Mostly infantry, but with some trucks, kangaroos and suchlike. How much would a force like that actually cost, money wise?
EDIT: Actually, taking a closer look at the website, they've got a 3rd Canadian Division army box, with tons of infantry, support, amroured personnel carriers, anti-tank, SP-ART, and a few shermans and a firefly... so pretty much exactly what I would want. All that for 315NZD, or about 230$ CAD (plus I guess, shipping, taxes and such like). I don't know how many points that equates to, but it seems to be a good deal. THough there'd be the books to buy as well. EDIT 2: Stupid me, it says the points there too... 1460. |

You should be able to order one through Fandom II, if they do not already have it in stock. If you're a card-carrying CWC or OMG member, you would get 10% off.

Hey, that'd actually be a great idea!
... Once of course, I'm off the student diet, and I've painted at least all the Eldar models I already have assembled... |

you goddamned bastards... now I'm tempted to get back into Flames of War when I get back from the far flung reaches of the north.
ITALIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to play the army that really wanted to sit back and drink wine and eat pastas, but were forced into their crappy, awkward-layout machines of war. Besides, you never see Italians. They are the Dark Eldar of FoW, without the emo.

Only if you pronounce it "eye-talian" every time you play.

Italians eh? Ever since I started playing them in Hearts of Iron 2, I've been strangely (morbidly?) fascinated by them...
(Hearts of Iron II is a massively scaled WWII strategy game, where micromanagement is the be all end all of your game...) The Italian Carri Company (or maybe Bersaglieri) is my second choice for an army, after a Canadian company. |

Hearts of Iron has a learning curve that is pretty similar to running full speed and taking a corner straight into a wall ... It looks awsome .. but wow.. it is kick you in the balls your first try kind or hard.... kudos to you for getting into it...

Ah yes, the learning curve is certainly one of the worst I've seen...
I had to play 2-3 games as a small country before understanding the basics... like, I need to keep my supplies above 0... and others. But I think since then, I've played WAAAAY to much... |
