TV Viewing Habits

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how much TV everyone watches. Around work I always hear people babbling on about this show or that show, and I'm starting to feel abnormal! (more so than usual)

Also, if you vote, please post what type of shows you watch.

How Much TV Do you Watch Per Week (21 votes)
25+ hours0 - 0.00%
16-24 hours2 - 9.52%
7-15 hours2 - 9.52%
2-6 hours15 - 71.43%
1 hour or less2 - 9.52%

Re: TV Viewing Habits

I watch the Sens games (when in season), the weather network for 5 mins in the morning, and sometimes 15-30 minutes of Cantonese TV with my fiancee. That's about it.

I'd say I watch about an hour a night with my wife. Now she watches far more TV than I do, I'd say around 13-17 hours a week.

I don't have cable and I don't have satellite...although that might change soon.

I watch whatever my DVD collection will allow...BBC dramas and science stuff, the Stargate collections, movies and so forth.

So, why doesn't looking at a computer monitor all day count? It's technically the same device!!

The computer is interactive. A computer generally takes a bit more thought to use, unless you're using it to watch TV/movies/porn, of course

However, I was just telling Bill I should make a parallel poll about computers.... you can do that, if you'd like. :thumb:

Re: TV Viewing Habits

does playing on the playstation count? (i counted yes) but other wise i dont really like tv it makes me feel dumb (not by it being smarter, but becuase it seems to think all people who watch it have the in telegence of an eight year old. )

i prefer reading books, even if they are the dumbest books in the world i rather read them than watch 80.0% of the shows out there. (especially those tv on the go things what the hell is that, it pisses me off, i hate that, it almost promoting people to not have to look at each other. its sick and messed up .)

But seeing how everything is getting integrated soon the computer telephone television, and probably the coffee maker, (dont forget it gives the time of twelve timezones and measures barometric pressure :thumb: ) will all be glued together.

I know a friend who has a tv in almost every room, and has five in his cottage, i have to say i think thats pretty sad. sure he is my best friend, but i still dont like it, i kind of wonder where western civilization is heading, and thats when fahrenheit 451 springs into mind.

Re: TV Viewing Habits

Wow, the people on this board watch a whole lot less TV than the average north American. Either that or everyone is lying.

I watch The O.C. (for comedic value, I swear!) and The Family Guy. Other than that, I'm usually working or painting my figs.

SK -
I've never watched much TV. When I lived at home my parents enforced a "No more than 1 hour per day" policy. So I never got into any shows. When I moved out on my own, I found out that most mainstream programming is utterly worthless. (I'm the same way with mainstream movies - I dislike the vast majority of them)

Sk: Most of the active users of the board likely spend much more time on the computer than watching TV.

If you asked a bunch of TV adicts how much they used a computer, it would likely be low also...

Only so much time in a day I guess.

I know people with a TV off to one side of their computer so that they can do both at once. :insane:

Re: TV Viewing Habits

I don't watch much tV, most of the time I am out, doing homework or on my Computer. the shows I watch are really varied though, Star Trek (TNG and Voyager), CSI, Discovery, robot wars (I love this one), and of course the simpsons. I only usually get sucered into watching anything else if I walk by and something sparks my interest in what my room mates are watching.
