BACKGROUND:

The screams of my men are incredible. It excites me. My pulse quickens. The small enemies are so fast. They pounce on my men sending blood flying through the air. I can actually taste it. My lieutenant’s arm falls beside me holding his cursed weapon. Two of the enemy beasts fight over the still quivering limb.

To my right, a long frail looking one with a large head shrieks at one of my now immobilized tanks. My men pour out of the doomed can moments before an unseen force crushes the armored beast. I bite through my tongue from the pleasure as I watch the mortally wounded crewmen take his last breath and press his bolter to his temple.

In two steps, I'm on the shrieking black and orange creature. It turns towards me and bares multiple rows of razor teeth. The excitement is overwhelming. I drop my bolter and draw Life Taker. It leaps to action and I can feel my arm go numb. The shrieker lies before me, its bloated head now unrecognizable.

My heart is pounding. There must be hundreds of the small ones now. My men from the tank are silent, buried by the small bugs. One jumps towards me and lies dead at my feet a moment later. Its blood splatter burns my face. The pain is delicious.

I can feel one behind me. The dying sun casts a fantastic shadow. Life Taker senses the blow before it comes and my body spins to block it. This one is immense. I now know fear. I thought it would feel different. One of its massive limbs is now gone, but another finds it's mark. It pulls back and I see my left hand being flipped towards the giant creatures’ maw. The pain. The pain. I've never felt this much joy. Life Taker plunges forward and the monstrosity falls backwards. Behind it are two more and behind then a much bigger one.

I look around and I am alone. My men are all dead. A smile crosses my face. Fear and terror in the same day, can it get any better. I step forward to find out...

Golden Marine Tournament VIII

Welcome to the GM8 forum. The purpose of this forum is to allow GM8 participants to review and rate the army composition and background stories of their opponents. These ratings will directly impact your opponent's scores, so please take some time and think about how you rate each army list. For each army list and each background story including your own you must assign a rating using the poll in the appropriate thread. Below is a list of suggested criteria to follow when assigning a composition score, or judging a story. You may choose to follow these guidelines, or ignore them completely.
Composition Guidelines Does this army contain any over-powered/under-priced units or selections? Is this army within the spirit of the codex it was selected from? Does this army appear to have been tooled up to win games at the expense of charcterfulness? Is this army min/maxed more than you find acceptable or sporting? Does this army contain more than one uber-character/unit/vehicle? Does this army contain a variety of squads/weapon options/wargear (good!) or is it very cookie cutter (not so good). Composition is marked out of 25	Background Story Guidelines Does the author use proper grammar/spelling? Does the story make sense? Does the story explain the army's make-up and/or purpose? (you do not have to specifically detail each squad if you don't want to - but you should at least assign a purpose to the force) Is the story an entertaining read? Background is marked out of 5
Note #1: A penalty to battle points will be imposed if scoring isn't complete on time, or if arbitrary/random scores are submitted. Note #2: Scoring must be complete prior to 8am Friday July 18th.
