thats the way the hobby has worked for years and years. At least now they are thinking of other armies when they write a codex. in 2nd Edition, some armies were just totally outclassed by others, it wasnt even funny. Eldar comes to mind, which is why theres still a faint undercurrent of eldar = cheese. Heck, in fantasy it was the old Dwarves, hence the term Beardy.
Could you imagine how much worse the WAAC guys would be if the hobby was like Magic, with prize money and so on? I'd only play fun games and stay clear of the tourney scene.

Yeah, 2nd edition. Regular (aka ultra) marines were the weakest army. Eldar were the most powerful, followed by space wolves. There was no sense of balance at all.
I remember when I got so fed up with the chedar and beardiness going on in 2nd that I made a character so cheesey that I felt sick to the stomach after using him (he ate 3/4 of my oponents army, wihtout breaking a sweat). I am so glad that 3rd came around--balance was far from perfect but even at its worse it came not even within 10% of being as cheesey as 2nd.

Yeah..but isn't that the same with everything? If everyone hadn't of used massed asscans, 5 man las/plas squads, tricked out daemon princes.. |

you can't trick up daemon princes unless you are using the daemon codex

So it's settled, next time a codex comes out with an abusable unit, no body use it. Then the next time the codex gets re-done, GW will buff it up because nobody used it before. Perfect. Wait...

Actually, the 3rd edition tyranid codex had totally broken gargoyles, and GW realised it and increased their points cost for 4th, even though nobody used them.
(why you ask? Because they cost $8 for a 10 point model.)

a plastic sprue with plastic wings and the curly feet, sold in a bag like they do with space marine jump packs: Turn termagaunts into gargoyles.
Im still SHOCKED and STUNNED GW hasnt realised how many of the following they could sell: A sprue, with 10X beakie heads, 10 x studded shoulder pads, 10 x old style front torso (no eagle) and 10x old looking bolter. It could all fit on one sprue, and they would sell out of them.

A dark reaper exarch with crack shot just became that much more valuable with their ability to ignore cover saves
