Deep Space :: GM9 Background Fluff

Until days ago, it had seemed an innocent piece of driffting wreckage, but since all of the activity in this system began, it has gradually transformed into something all together more sinister.

In eons past, the guardinas of the slumbering gods have been awoken by weak flesh-creatures, the spawn of the C’tan’s ancient enemies, intruding upon the sacred tombs of their masters. One of the first of such warriors to wake was the one known as Upuaut, or “The opener of ways”. Upuaut has been secretly harvesting the life energies of the flesh-bound mortals that the ancient enemies guarded so ferverently.

Upuaut has sloly gathered more guardian-warriors from the desecrated tombs they used to guard, after dispatcing the would-be tomb robbers. Some of the warriors under Upuaut’s command are as ancient as Upuaut himself, but the gifts granted to him by his gods have allowed him to never tire in his ceaseless task of restoreing his masters to their former power.

A few days ago, aboard the Necron raiding vessel known as “Anubis”, what could only be precieved as an icy breeze by a mere mortal, whispered through it’s vaulted chambers. Only Upuaut, Necron Lord, Champion of the Star Gods, could understand what it meant. His masters were stirring, fresh lifeforce, in abundance was near. The raider had drifted into a system denoted by the name Iago, given to it by the fleshbound mortals currently swarming over it. Upuaut had long since grown tired of the mortals fascination with naming things that would blink out of existance in a scant few millenia, but a moment in the time Upuaut and his masters had stalked the known universe. Upuaut had his command; more life force for his masters; more specimens for his masters to determine the best way to drain the last drop of the ancient enemies influence from the galaxy.
