I think carrying a box full of kittens to your local GW and using them as Leman Russes would be a little overpowered.

um me. 5th edition russ: cannot move and fire all three heavy bolters like in 4th edition, and anything assaulting it hits rear armor automatically, whereas in 4th ed you had to get yourself to that rear armo to get AV10.. too bad most ppl parked the ass end against the board edge....

I've always had a tough time against them when I faced them. Maybe you have a better experience with them, but I have a feeling people are mistaking overpowered-->balanced with balanced-->underpowered. I've seen it with a lot of units that get the nerf bat seemingly swung at them until people realize that the units are still very useful, just not the be all and end all.

well armour 14 is hard to kill now, no question
and the few times i came up against a russ in 4th ed i had trouble killing it, but my understanding is that they cost a fair amount i wouldn't say they are overpowered unless they are stupid cheap. i dont think anyone would say a LandRaider is overpowered the russ has lots of options though, which is cool. they don't have power of machine spirit do they? A. |

thats what i figured,
whats the side armour 12? it seems to be pretty survivable but i guess a basic marine can theoretically kill it in hand to hand pretty unlikely though, actually really unlikely cause you have to immobilize it enough times that it was immobilized and that all its weapons were dead and then immobilize it again, lol, thats bad luck for the tank. the space wolves can take the russ though right? does it have the same options/stats as the IG russ? A. |

Space Wolves can take a Leman Russ Exterminator, which has no ordnance, only TL Autocannon turret, much more tame, seeing as it can only move and fire one weapon right now.
And I will echo MVs thoughts on the Leman Russ being underpowered now too. With cover being as good as it is, Ordnance just isn't nearly as effective. Add in the extra heavy bolters and the tank starts to become a bit better  |

If we get those new rules (which I haven't seen anywhere) I'll be bringing 3 every game, more if book allows it.
I'm sure every person will see their share of Russes in the future. Sadly my basilisks will be relegated to Apocalypse now... |
