New Codices

Hey Ottawa players

Any news on to what new codices are in the works? I'm curious what's next after Tau.

I got into a conversation with some buddies in Sacramento who heard that Orks and then Eldar were next. These codices are old but what about Dark Eldar? I think I remember them comming out with their codex right as the 3rd edition was released.

What is your guys' opinion on what new supplements should be comming out for which races? I'm curious how the Canadians in Ottawa feel about obsolete codices.

Gim

(I was | | that close to typing "codexes". Thanks to the person who wrote that post that clarified that, :thumbgreen: )

Re: New Codices

Well it will probably be one of the space marine chapter codices first, then something else like eldar or orks, no idea either way. Should be something in the sneak peak soon enough. The eldar rangers are going to be released with the new cityfight book are they not? I think dark angels will be next just cause of the plastic termi's recently released.

Nothing is official, but right now the prevailing rumors seem to say:

- Tau
- The Medusa Summer Campaign
- Eldar
- Dark Angels

In that order. How reliable is this information? Not particularly... but it seems to be the most ubiquitously touted schedule among rumor-mongers.

Re: New Codices

Dark Eldar are in need of a new codex, but they did get a substantial update a couple years back that included new rules and wargear. In my humble opion, you cannot redefine and reimagine Dark Eldar until GW properly addressed Craftworld Eldar. Dark Eldar are raiders, pirates, and mostly an annoyance to the Imperium. Craftworlds can mount real armies and fleets and take and hold worlds. Let's show that power!

I thought that DA where before Eldar, being a marine book in between every other book. Is that just wishful thinking, Corey? Or am I just plain wrong?

Re: New Codices

The whole "Imperial-other-Imperial-other" is just an assumption that people make. GW never said this was their official "plan". It may or may not be their actual plan, but they've never said so officially.

Heh, yeah but it is what they've done for the last few years that I've been into the hobby. I'd like SOB to get a new book, or new models, plastics, to be more accurate. But I digress...

Re: New Codices

Well, found someone on the games-workshop forums that stated simply "the new eldar 'dex is later this year, sometime after summer but before xmas." Sounds sure of himself..

I'll cross my fingers for that. Hopefully GW will put some good thought into it! 200-something replies about how to change the eldar codex for 4th version has got to mean something.

Believe me... guys who are sure of themselves who state things as fact on internet forums are extremely rare. Whatever he says, it HAS to be true... so make sure you pay close attention!

(sorry... I couldn't help myself)

Re: New Codices

QuietManes: a new SOB book? Their codex is quite recent!! As for models, although I'm sure plastic would be nice, I don't think it's going to happen for a while - They got a fair few new models for themselves with the new codex, and they also have access to to most of the IG and Inquisitor range, so I wouldn't think sisters models are a priority right now, especially when you consider orks and dark eldar. I'll still keep my fingers crossed for you though!

His information roughly supports yours jackass, i mean, orbital. jk

You say Eldar is after the summer campaign. I only assume that GW would be able to complete the Eldar codex before Christmas.

So here's hoping. :beerchug:

I can't think of any Codex I'd rather see than a new Ork codex...just on the "cool" factor alone.

Re: New Codices

I'd love to see a new Ork codex. What they need to do is split up the different clans and make special army lists for them.
