Alright...alright...
Okay, so you're driving down a road in the middle of nowhere, and suddenly your car breaks down. Unfortunately since you don't have a cell phone, pager, or anything like that, you look around, and you find this monastery. So you knock on the door of the monastery and this monk answers the door. He asks how he can help you, and you tell him that your car broke down and you need a phone to call a tow truck. He replies that he does have a phone, and gives it to you. You call the truck, and he says that he can't be there until 9:00 the next morning. After you ask the monk if you could have a place to stay for the night, and he lets you stay at the monastery. Shortly after, you go to sleep.
The next morning, at 1:00, you hear this really odd sound echoing throughout the halls of the monastery. Eventually, it stops, and you go back to sleep.
Later, at 8:50 or so, the monk wakes you up and he's about to escort you out of the monastery, but before leaving, you ask him, "What was that noise I heard?" He replies, "I can't tell you, you're not a monk." Okay, so it must be some weird monk thing, so you leave the monastery and once the truck arrives, you be on your way.
The next time around, you're driving along the same road, and once again, your car breaks down. Without your cell phone/pager once again, you look around and the monastery is still there. You knock on the door, and the same monk answers the door. He welcomes you back, and he asks once again how he can help. You explain your predicament and ask for the phone again. He gives you the phone, and once again, the truck cannot be there until 9:00 the next morning. You ask him for a place to stay, and he gives you a room. Then you go to sleep.
The next morning at 1:00 you hear the same weird sound. Eventually it stops and you go to sleep.
Later, the monk wakes you up and he escorts you out of the monastery. But before leaving, you ask what that sound was. He replies once again, "I can't tell you, you're not a monk." Okay, hopefully you'll forget about it later on. You exit the monastery and the car is fixed and you be on your way.
Next time around, you're driving along the same road, and, once again, your car breaks down at the exact same spot. Looking around again, you find the monastery. You knock on the door, and the same monk answers the door. He asks how he can be on service, and you explain to him that, once again, your car broke down, and you need a phone to call the tow truck. Once again, the truck cannot arrive until 9:00 the next morning. You ask the monk for a place to stay, and he gives you the same room, and then you fall asleep.
Once again, at 1:00, you hear this odd noise throughout the monastery. Eventually it stops and you return to sleep.
At 9:00 or so, the monk wakes you up and he escorts you out of the monastery, and once again, you ask, "What was that sound I heard?" He replies, "I can't tell you, you're not a monk." Okay, now you're really frustrated, so you're going to
become a monk, just to find out what that sound is.
9 years later, you're a fully fledged monk, and you return to the monastery. You walk up to the monk, and you ask, "What was that sound I heard?" He replies, "Okay. Take this silver key, find the silver door that matches the key and there's your answer."
You wander throughout the entire monastery and you finally find the silver door. You open the door, and there's a storage room.
You return to the monk and you tell him, "This isn't the key."
"Oh, I'm sorry, we moved it a month ago. Here. Take this gold key, find the gold door that matches the key and that's your answer."
So you wander around the monastery and you finally find the golden door. Behind it is a brick wall.
So for the second time you return to the monk and you tell him, "This isn't the right key."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, we moved it just yesterday. Take this platinum key, find the platinum door that matches the key and that's your answer."
So you wander throughout the entire monastery and you finally find the platinum door. You open it...and you finally find out what that sound is.
: What was it?
Can't tell you, you're not a monk.

Heard that joke before?
