"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"Have faith that people do their best. I don't know anyone who would eat with pigs out of a trough in a muddy barnyard if he knew that a well-prepared meal was on the table in a clean house - do you?" Greg Baer

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

1,000 positive stepping stones on the path to healing ( 13:06:31 SunOct 26 2003 )

This thread is somewhat inspired by the work many of us are doing trying to make sure we find positive parts of each day as we continue the path of healing. It also is partially inspired by the quote from Stephen Levine talking about the ten-thousand stepping stones on the path to healing.

I'm going to challenge the members and guests of this community to see if they can come up with 1, 000 positive steps toward healing and post in this thread before the end of this year! I would have suggested 10,0000 posts but that would really be pushing it. Maybe we can do that next year if we have a success. Or maybe we'll surprise ourselves with the number we come up with. There's no rule saying we have to stop at 1,000! I think this might be a fun way to work on healing by staying positive and working on being aware of every day events in our daily lives.

Now there aren't many rules for this effort other than posts must be positive. You can post about things which may seem trival or even frivilous to others as long as the message is something positive. Moans, groans, complaints, tirades, etc should be posted in more appropriate forums. Any such messages will either be deleted or moved to another forum by the hosts.

The other rule is you can only post two times in succession. This should be a community effort not one or two people focused on positive.

Ready, set, be positive in your journey! :cookiemonster:

I'll get things started. I'm feeling great this morning because last night I had my favorite dinner, spaghetti and this morning I have my old friend caffeine to get me started with another day. :cookiemonster: This is my second post, so next

This is a good idea. I'm feeling really good this morning because I'm about to spend the day with my son and just hang out watching football and later we might teach me how to rollerblade. :npdhumor:

On Friday, I received a call to interview to work as an admin asst.for a temp position at the local tech college. I had applied for a different, more challenging position. I'm thrilled to be considered for the temp job.

Today, I am brushing up on my MS Access skills ... a requisite skill for the job. I CAN do this!

TC, this thread is a tremendous idea!

Cheers!

I like this. We all need to build on the positive. Sunday is my favorite day because I have time to laze around the house and read the morning paper. Life is good. :claphands:

Life and friendly, great news from both of you. We'll be keeping you in our thoughts.

I'm feeling good about life. No resaon in particular. Its just a bright sunny morning and the Chiefs are still undefeated. Who could ask for more?

I like the idea of this thread, but I think we need a hug to make it official

I'm grateful for having a place to come and share my deepest feelings and be welcomed rather than attacked. I really appreciate the people here more than I can say. You are a big part of my healing. You all give me reason to believe.

I to am grateful for all of the people in this forum who are bravely paving a path toward healing. I have learned a lot about survivors and victims over the last couple of years. The one thing I never expected was that I would have to survive the support community. In many ways I believe I'm stronger as a result of that and now I believe there is hope of recovery for all people who come into contact with NPD.
