"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

Does anyone here remember the song by the Honeydrippers 'The Sea of Love'. That was our wedding song. I heard it on the radio the other day for the first time in a long time. It took me back to a time and place of great expectations and innocence. It was sad yet moving. I had a nice cry and it might have helped me let go of some things that never have been, and might well never be true in our relationship.

i should've known by your nickname, LxL, that you could possibly be a fan of
R Plant
derivatives too, as i am.

i felt a warmth when for whatever reason i had to stop listening to music, i
could finally go back to it with the realisation that it just speaks to the
human condition. i felt alive again. emotions and memories rise and fall in
each of us and i thought it was great when i didn't have to see a song i
loved as being that specific and carrying a sense of dread, love and/or pain
anymore. notwithstanding any of that, it's great that you have cried, it's a
way of acknowledging that there was a loss. i'm trying to say that one day
you'll be able to hear that song in a myriad of other contexts too if you'd
like. maybe it will be just sitting in traffic and relating to the irony of
the sea of exhaust fumes f-cking up such harmonious sentiment....i dunno.

one day at a time though.

i didn't choke back a tear as i thought i would when someone posted mike and
the mechanics "the living years" the other day. my ex had that cd, and i
knew 98% of that really fits how he once felt about his dad. i'm glad of the
closeness i know we did share.

Here I go searching for something positive. Yesterday I had my two year check up with the eye doctor. I found out after years of being nearsighted I now need bi-focals. I'm not even to 40 (dosen't life begin at 40 ? :givemebeer: ) and i already need bifocals. On a positive note I'm taking care of my needs and I should be able to see the world more clearly. As we have talked about taking care of one's physical needs is a definite part of healing.

I don't like what I see when I look in the mirror and I'm trying to do something about it. I guess that's what healing is really all about?

The things I've read in this community have given me up that healing is possible. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

There is a new member of my support network. His name is Snowdance, and he's an 9 week old puppy. This is the first pet I've had in a long time. I've been feeling very lonely so hopefully Snowdance will fill a part of the void.

I spent time this week taking care of myself in terms of addressing my depression & high blood pressure, getting new glasses, and getting my teeth cleaned. I actually feel semi good about who I see in the mirror after all this TLC. Making things even nicer is that the book I ordered a while back finally arrived on Friday, "The Cloud of Unknowing". Now I have a chance to spend time this weekend addressing my spiritual search!

Yesterday I received verbal approval for admission into the UW's graud school. The formal letter should be coming in the next week or so. I'll probably start either in the summer of next fall. Its exciting but also kind of terrifying, to put it mildly.

The positve of the week is I saw the election as something I had no control over and did not allow myself to stress out, much. I consider this proof there really is a first time for everything as actually election going back to 1986 has damned near given me a heart attack watching the results come in.

Also I test for my lower yellow belt in taekowndoe on Sunday evening, so I'm psyched about that.
