I am reaching a place in my growth where I am able to be vunerable to my own emotions, and be human. I have not reached a place where this happens without making a conscious effort to do so, but slowly I am feeling the emotions that have been hidden from me for a long time. This is an exciting time of being able to experience not only the fear I know is infested in some of my thoughts and behaviors, but also to feel and give love to myself and others. I no longer feel a need to hide behind the defenses that I built around my soul.

peace

Tony

Tony,

Congrats. I'm also working on the same process as you. I'm frustrated right now, but I still feel I'm making some progress and am more aware than I was before. Good luck,

Matt

You know, of course, where this other world lies hidden. It is the world of your own soul that you seek. Only within yourself exists that other reality for which you long. I can give you nothing that has not already its being within yourself... All I can give you is the impulse, the key. I can help you to make your own world visible. That is all.

My ego tends to have this need for instant gratification. Last week I was having problems with my computer and there were two options: one would bring instant gratification by fixing the problem immediately, the second would require waiting a few days but would cost about 1/3 the price of instant gratification. My ego protested by I went with the second option and found that I survived the delay and life did indeed move forward. :bunny:

This could be an interesting day because I will test for upper yellow belt in Twaekwondo. The interesting thing is that I remember how nervous I was when I tested for my lower yellow belt, and today I feel much more at ease with who I am, and what might happen. I have a feeling of inner peace. :partyfrog:

My Father, oldest son and myself have planned a guy's day out and are going to a movie, and later to dinner. Its been a long, long time since we did anything like this and its kind of exciting!

I survived another round of testing at Twaekwondo and have reached the upper yellow belt. My self-confidence and self-esteem have both risen over the last few months and I think this has been at least a factor in my positive growth. :cookiemonster:

Yesterday I mailed my taxes for 2003. There were distractions galore right up to the finish line when I got them mailed. It was interesting to be aware of them, and consciously fighting them off. And it felt good to win.

Also, I have been picking up the phone when it rings. This may not seem like a big deal to most people, but after years of ignoring it 50%+ of the time.. it takes some concentration. When I hang up I tend to feel like it was a disaster, but I pick it up next time anyway.

Believe me I understand how being able to answer the phone can be a step toward healing. Around our house we have lived with so many problems that I have a fear of what's next every time the phone rings.

My positive I guess would be I haven't let these various troubles destroy my hope for a better future.

I caught myself mis-remembering something in the past as loving and happy when in fact it was a time of conflict and turmoil. I guess because overall my feelings for the people involved are loving. At the moment of catching myself in this rearranged memory, I realized it is possible to remember what we choose, not to mention, to remember it as we choose.
