I love this thread! Zachery, it's so cool that you feel good during your alone with yourself time! Blabreeny, I'm so glad you and your son had a blast! TC, maybe you should start a thread on how you are carrying your anger differently-- I'd love to see it! Free-of-fem, thank you for spending time with your friend in her dying. Having been through cancer, I know how hard it was for some of my friends to be with me through that time, and I had a 85% chance of getting better. I think walking with mortality-- either through our own illness or supporting someone in their dying-- changes how life looks immensely. Facing the reality that will happen to all of us has helped me meake better choices.
I am listening to Bach again, St. Matthew Passion, which for some reason always makes me feel peaceful. My son is at his preschool, which he loves, and I am doing self-care-- checking out this board, then going to go to lunch, and visit a friend this afternoon. A friend of mine who is a writer (really good) sent me a short story to read and comment on, and I feel very honored, so I'll be doing that today too. It's good to post here on the days I can stay motivated and active-- it's such a depression buster! And with these gray days, I need that!

Tc, at 933 posts to your credit, you've nearly reached 1,000 personal stepping stones on your own path to healing!!! Way cool!!!
I'm so tickled you're enjoying the hugs Taran. I really like your new avatar (is that the correct term?). I liked your other one as well.
My apartment is 300 sq ft. I call it my "cracker box palace." It was supposed to be my home for only 6 months ... temporary ... that was nearly 2 years ago. Being temporary, I was tickled to have a classmate lend me a futon mattress to have as a bed albiet on the floor.
On Sunday, some moving neighbors had a futon frame to get rid of!!! When I first asked my son to measure it and lend a hand moving it, he was non-plussed. When he saw how much it meant to me (I am thrilled!!!), once we got it in the house and the mattress fit perfectly, I could see his attitude change immediately.
I think it was a good lesson for him. After his reluctance to help, he was pleased he helped me do something that was of no significance to him and very important to me.
