"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"Have faith that people do their best. I don't know anyone who would eat with pigs out of a trough in a muddy barnyard if he knew that a well-prepared meal was on the table in a clean house - do you?" Greg Baer

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

My condolences, Nandi.

I don't have to work today because the seminar I was supposed to attend was canceled and my boss said just take a day! This is either a sign he likes my work or he's getting ready to fire me and doesn't want me around while he interviews replacements. I'll keep positive thoughts and enjoy my day.

Another day kicks off with a hug. Stress hug not jug. Thank God I proof read this message.

I have decided I need more exercise so last night I signed up for a six months membership in a club. I like to swim and run so maybe this will inspire me to do more of it.

My thoughts are with your Nandi.

Life is looking up today because I found out the kids will be with me all Thanksgiving weekend. My wife had orginally wanted them to come for Saturday dinner, but she cancelled without any explanation. Its sad in one way but I will treasure the time with the kids.

Condolences, Nandi, and I will send prayers for your safe travel.

Well, it's been a difficult week but I just kept putting one foot in front of the other. The good news is, when I can't handle anything else, I just focus on the house. This time it's getting really clean and organized, not just a surface polish, and finally it far enough a long that it feels more in control than in chaos. I'm also cooking instead of eating out, and that feels good.

Winter is settling in here and this afternoon tiny snowflakes fell on my face as I walked along the trail which circles this community. This is a time of letting go of the sorrow and being thankful for the people in our lifes. May they one day know the love we feel for them.

I've had a rough couple of days at work ... that is, I've experienced some "learning situations." Egad! 3 of them in two days. The good news is: I mentioned to the boss that because of those learning experiences, I wouldn't be likely to repeat them. She said that sometimes she needs to experience the same learning several times. I told her that I do to ... but not the kind of dramatic learning experiences I've been through lately. We laughed.

Cheers!

This morning I had coffee with a friend whose 18 year old son is dying. I have known the family for 12 years - he was given a 15 year life expectancy at birth. Jon is intelligent and is aware of his condition - he writes the most wonderful (but disturbing) poetry. Two weeks ago he was given a 10% chance of surviving an op - and nil chance of surviving without it. He has survived for a little longer.

His illness is progressive - he has been in a wheelchair for 8 years, is now wearing diapers, unable to feed himself and able to communicate only by using a keyboard (He is 18 years old and his twin brother is doing all the things an 18 year old normally does!!)

Talking with his parents, with him and with his twin brother always makes me feel so humble - all my problems fade into comparison with the life journey that they are all facing. Their courage and optimism challenges me to find the positives in my own life. Every time I see them, I remind myself that I have a supreme blessing in physical health. My life has been enriched by the gift of knowing Jon and his family.

I think about this thread a lot during the day and someting occurs to me. This discussion helps keep my brain thinking positive thoughts and discourages me from actively seeking trouble. I have needed something like this in my life for a long time. :thankyou:

I do not feel a need to call myself a victim and promote hate in the name of healing. For me it simply is the greatest feeling in the world.

He who, your comment reminded me of something my psych has been saying - that we get into the 'habits' of our thoughts. Think positively and you develop a habit of thinking positively.

I'm just about to go to bed. I have 2 sons who give me hugs every day - what more do I need?
