I feel "posting addicted" today.

I went home at lunch, found some tools my hubby left behind and fixed the washing machine! I CAN DO ANYTHING! OK, maybe not anything, but a lot more than I think I can. Since my husband has left I have done minor repairs on the toilet, the car and now, the washing machine. As nice as it was having him around to fix those things for me, it also is a sense of accomplishment doing it yourself.

Have a great day!

Mel

With you on that, Mel! I fixed a toilet last week, too. Unfortunately, today I broke the dryer duct moving it out to clean. I tried to fix it myself, and made it worse. But I am proud of myself that instead of getting down on myself about it, I hopped on the phone to the repairman to get it fixed. Before, I would have waited for my husband to say, "Call a repairman," then put it off for days because of guilt and shame-- how weird is that? This way, I skip the guilt and shame, leave hubby out of it, and it'll be fixed first thing tomorrow morning. Still like fixing things myself and not having to pay $$$ better, though, but at least I solved the problem.

It should interest the female members who are doing all this good work that I have no talent with tools whatsover. I keep all the repair men on speed dial and cannot even fix a flat tire. I have really shamed my Father on this front, but I'm at peace with the fact I have the mechanical talent of a desk. I actually have gotten to the point where I have fun at my own lack of talent, which I couldn't do for most of my life, so this feels like progress to me.

Today I had an interview for a job as a financial consultant in a family-run business - it was the longest interview I have ever had - 4 hours!!

I think I got the job as when I left it was hugs all round!!

Congratulations, Balbrenny.

I have spent a lot of time over the last week or so getting back to meditating and trying to be aware of myself. My therapist calls this back to the basics and somehow I had gotten away from it for a while. It feels good to not to have everything feel like a race to the finish line.

Yesterday I received a call from a hotel I stayed in last summer. It seems they found a pair of earrings and wondered if they could possibly be the ones I lost during my stay. It turns out its not them but I appreciate their honesty and intergrity in calling me. I had almost forgotten about the incident and certainly did not expect to hear from them at this late date.

Congratulations, Linda!!!

I won the ribbon for Table Topics at Toastmasters last night. I will spend some time tonight working on a speech that I will give next week. I'm doing it on reciprocity as a powerful influence technique and how it can complicate gift giving. Toastmasters is really fun. The club is full of wonderful, supportive people.

Cheers!

Congratulations Life and Balbrenny!

I spent most of the afternoon yesterday doing an assignment for my healing which I have been avoiding for about a month. It felt good not only to get it done and out of my hair but also I found it was helpful, maybe very much so. It wasn't easy but than I have come to learn no one said this would be an easy or comfortable process. The most important thing is it feels good.

I will chalk this one up as a positive even though the final outcome is still in doubt. My x girlfriend called yesterday and invited me to meet with her today and talk about why we split. She made a point of saying she's not looking to get back together, but is uncomfortable how we left things. I have a lot of anxiety about this but I agreed. At this point I can only hope this is the right and positive thing to do.

I got to go Christmas caroling with my daughters class. It was the first time in years that I have gone caroling. My song voice leaves a lot ot be desired, but the thrill of singing the songs of the season more than made up for my inability to keep a tune. :claphands:
