"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"Have faith that people do their best. I don't know anyone who would eat with pigs out of a trough in a muddy barnyard if he knew that a well-prepared meal was on the table in a clean house - do you?" Greg Baer

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

This community has renewed my faith in man just enough that I believe within myself there is hope. This is the first time I ever said this as my life has been doom and gloom. I could get to really like the light.

Ever since my therapy session on Wednesday I have felt a warmth inside (an energy perhaps?) that feels as though life is filling some of the emptiness inside. The desire to live, share and participate in life is growing stronger by the day. Have a great day.

P.S. - Congratulations Having a Life for landing the job. :cookiemonster:

I like the message from Free reminding us all of the importance of having fun. Sometimes we all take life way too seriously. Today is Halloween. A day to allow ourselves to be fun and remember the little kid in each of us (and be safe while doing so). Some of the most meaningful healing work we do is with our "kid". I intend to spend time today enjoying the moment and being aware of that life is a good thing.

I've no classes today, so its a chance to catch my breath after the week from hell. I had an exam and a paper do this week and the stress level almost did me in. :ohwell: So far this semester has gone so much better than all of last year. Usually I'm handling the stress much, much better than in the past. Even the little episode with the multiple dates worked out better than it might have. I think its because I'm making a real effort not to let everything stress me and become the latest crisis. I used to be good at creating crisis and than have to spend energy putting out the fires. Its less exhausting to skip the crisis and enjoy life. I don't know why that's such a freaking hard lesson to learn? :bawling: So as someone else said I will spend my day trying to focus on what else I need to accomplish this semester, and have a little fun on the side. :allgone:

Great news on getting the job, Life!!

Its almost time for bed and I have had a good day - went to a fete this evening with my younger son and played some board games with him at home - good to spend this time with him as often in the crises that seem to envelop my eldest, I'm sure that the younger son feels ignored.

Last night I talked on the telephone with my Father for over an hour. Our conversation swept across many topics, excluding NPD. I felt an unstated agreement that our time together was to build love and stay away from old wounds. I felt comfortable with this, more so then I might have anticipated. We still need to work out how and when the time will be right to talk about other concerns, but last night was a time to enjoy the presence and life of father and son. There is not an endless number of these times remaining. I'm grateful that I reached a place in my life where this is possible. A void has been filled. In this way I'm a step closer to being a whole person.

Bikerboy, "Its less exhausting to skip the crisis and enjoy life." That is a powerful lesson. Kudos to you for recognizing it.

Tc, "The desire to live, share and participate in life is growing stronger by the day." Awesome.

Oh yes, friendly, enjoy the ight.

I have the mental and physical energy to deal with the most recent divorce paperwork this morning. It will feel so good to get it done.

My day got a jump start as I came downstairs to find a hot breakfast greeting me on a freezing morning. Usually its every man for himself around here so the times when someone fixes breakfast for the family are a treat. Sometimes healing is just a little bit of pampering the wounds.

The best part of this week has been that I've had nothing to do in the evenings and had a chance to read. I read Alice Miller's book "Drama of the Gifted Child" on Tuesday and since then I've been reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoeniix. Its been great to have some time to escape reality and give my mind a chance to rest.
