"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Two posts in a row again-- I came up with a new word, inspired by Matt, who will probably tell me this word has actually been around a long time, but it's "wimpitude." "Wimpitude" is the initial and natural feeling of fear one has when one is about to take steps that will drastically alter the course of one's life. Forunately, it is often followed by "fortitude"-- which I feel growing in me by the minute...

No Hes, I had never heard wimptitude before actually. That's a cool word. It's cool, baby. It's a pulchritudinous word. Damn. Aren't I cool?

Anyway, my back is somewhat better, walking is no longer a trial. Did a bunch of schoolwork till 2:30 last morning, and today's gonna be another work-fest. Joy... but then that leaves a free weekend. So at least that's happy...

Matt

P.S. My cat Loki is here on the table and he says a loud "meow!" to all of his fellow narcissists here at the board!

Here's a positive-- a college age guy called me "cool" and "baby"-- see above. Sure beats what I usually get, which is "m'aam." Now I'm going to go figure out what pulchritudinous means and see if I've just made an a** of myself.

pulchritudinous:

Characterized by or having great physical beauty and appeal.

My kids think I'm cool. Of course, they are 4 and 3, but I'll take it.

I am not going to let my tiff with my ex ruin my weekend. I have plans to curl (drink) with the girls from work in a bonspiel (entire weekend of drinking) this weekend and am going to enjoy it!

On Wednesday my son and I went to Court over the AVO (restraining order) against the boy who beat him up. The other boy did not object to the Order and we did not have to testify - whew!! :claphands:

The biggest positive was that I met the other boy's mother and we had a long chat. It was good to hear her story - she is a lovely person and I am hoping that I will get to know her better. I know that we are all struggling as parents to help our children and she has not given up on her son (although he has had 58 criminal charges and he is only 15 years old). Her determination to stick by her son (while not denying the things he has done) was admirable.

Mad work week is over. Had a ridiculous English paper due on Monday. Then a bitch of a history test. Then a math test that was quite ridiculous, to put it plainly. And now 4 physics labs. What the hell would I do without the internet sites that bored scientists put up there for students like me. I honestly don't know. My cat sat on the most important paper and crumpled it up. Oh well... this weekend is gonna be beautiful. Sleep, sleep and more sleep. It's time to go to school though... I've already skipped first period.

Linda, so glad to hear the outcome of this situation. Glad you didn't have to testify.

Ok, so Matt didn't say I was cool, he said my word was cool and comely (sounds so much better in this sentence than "pulchritudinous.") As a literary type gal, that's even better!

I am brimming with positives today, and I don't know why. I couldn't sleep, was wound up with anxiety, but like a grace I woke up this morning relaxed and full of gratitude. So here's my positives: My son is happy and healthy; I leave on Sunday to go meet my new nephew; I am healthy; I am starting to really like who I am again; it's fun living your own life; my friends keep telling me I seem so much happier and relaxed-- and those I've met since we moved here tell me they've never seen me so happy; I'm starting to believe in my own work; there are buds on the trees. There are worse things than getting a divorce, and living life in an abusive relationship is one of them.

Second positive for today-- I called my lawyer and made an appointment to meet with her when I return from my trip. I'm getting a divorce. Time to start toward the next chapter of my life, whatever that might be. (Sometimes positives can be a little sad, too.)

The Eagle

He clasps the crag with crooked hands,
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands,

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls,
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

So elegant and beautiful... that's my favorite poem, it's by Tennyson. If I could write just one piece like that in my entire life, it would be worth any amount of effort or trouble. I think part of healing is setting your creative side free. I'm working on that now...

Good day for me. Got the physics work done, all of it. Then had a long talk with my tennis coach Darius, who is a survivor himself in a similar way that I am. We talked all about his and my philosophy of life, free will, appearances vs. reality in certain people, the importance of winning in life and tennis, and so on. It reminded me of all the human contact I've been missing... don't know how I stand it really. Then I came home and talked for about an hour with my sister about our problems in the family, which was not that constructive but was interesting and helpful to us both nonetheless.

Time moves slowly on...
