"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

I got a serious haircut. My long locks were shorn off. It's summer time

Yesterday I cleaned my apartment without being nagged or told to do so by anyone. Maybe the guilt of Mother's Day got to me after all. Either that or its my spring time cleaning and I won't have to bother for another year or so. :cookiemonster::cookiemonster:

On Saturday afternoon my ex-wife and I talked in a relatively calm, human manner for an hour. We discussed the kids performance in school, Mother's Day (for our parents, not her) and other relatively harmless topics. It gave me some faint hope one day we'll be able to have a civilized divorce and become semi well-adjusted.

Over nine months, almost ten, without using. So far, so good.

Its a dark, rainy, gloomy morning on the Palouse. I thought summer was supposed to be warm. I'm feeling down in the dumps for no great reason. It goes beyond Mother's day but I haven't figured out exactly what it is. Oh sh-t this is supposed to be a positive forum. Doo doo, Doo doo, Doo doo. Hmm, okay for the old timers who remember Swisher it has been one year ago this week that she had her surgery for eating a penny. She's still alive and well, quacking along in the pen and showing no ill effects of her adventure. That's about as positive as it gets today.

I took today off to help work my son's school track and field event. The event got rained out so I've spent the day curled up with a novel. Who says rain is a bad thing?

Later this afternoon I will be meeting with a practicing Shaman from the Blackfeet community. We'll talk about my situation and see if he feels there is something he can do to help me access my soul. This Shaman has worked with psychologists across Washington, Idaho and Montana and was referred by my therapist (who comes close but is not officially a Shaman). I'm anxious but very excited to see what comes from this session.

Hey all, I wanted to let you know that I made a change in my life and moved into a new apartment. I feel the old place was bringing me down. There were far too many memories built around my ex-w***e. The new place feels fresher, cleaner, more pure. Most importantly the w***e does not know how to reach me.

I have been cleaning, exercising, writing, and getting stuff together for the lawyers. Got to admit, it feels fabulous, like I've got my life back... Though I've stumbled across that old wedding album too, Mel, and shed a few tears...

The big positive is my husband and I talked for 40 minutes tonight about our son. He seems to have accepted that the divorce is going to happen. We each had concerns about different issues with our son, and were actually able to help each other work through them. When it comes to details and nitty gritty stuff, we've always worked together well-- we were work colleagues before we were involved romantically, and it feels like this is the kind of relating that is now moving into the foreground. My therapist thinks that his therapy is going to be a container for the worst of it, and that she can help me stay in a place of forgiveness and understanding rather than bitterness and rage. Things seem to be going well so far...
