"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

I don't know whether to admire those of you who are so excited about starting college, or rush you to the doctor. For better or worse my senior year starts in less then two weeks at LMU. I've registered so I think I'm committed to seeing this through at least the fall semester.

The real positive in my life is that I have a special person I've dated twice without any real problems developing. That's got to be some kind of personal record. One step at a time, or so they say.

I'm happy to report that I had a chat with CoolBlonde and Phil last night and they both seem to be doing fine although my presence may have started an interesting discussion afterward. :npdhumor: If you'd like me to intrude on your personal affairs simply leave your phone number and least convenient time for me to call. My fee is reasonable compared to Samvak as I only charge $450/ hour.

Phil managed to survive our conversation, despite the fact that I wasn't giving him my undivided attention the whole time I was on the phone. Or maybe I was just ignoring him like a typical N. It's hard to tell. In any event, it is nice to be able to talk in-person to each other, since real-life support is what we are working towards anyway.
I may have to warn BF that the next time he acts up, the whole group will show up at my door to do an "intervention." :evillaugh:

After reading some of the other posts here, I have to say that one big positive for me is that I'm finally done with school. :cookiemonster:

It also looks like we are only 17 posts away from 1000. Any ideas for how we should celebrate when we reach the magic number?

A few come to mind, but I really shouldn't mention them in a public forum :npdhumor: Seriously, a couple people have asked if we are going to continue toward the orginal idea of 10,000 steps toward healing. I say what the hell. Its taken us considerably longer to get to 1,000 than I orginally anticipated, but now I'm stunned we are this close. I think we should keep going as long as someone has a positive going in their life.

My positive today is that I was woken up at 3 am by the yipping of coyottes in the field behind my house. I lay in bed loving the idea of finally being in a place this close to nature, plus the ducks were safely tucked away in the bathroom.

Whatever we do to celebrate I think it should involve Demonic Barbie

The trip was delayed because my friend's family is a bigger mess than mine. We should be out the door in less than an hour. See everyone late Monday, or sometime around Christmas.

7 frickin' days. And I've had a pretty good stretch of days recently too. Which is cool.

Good luck to all the college and other students within this community. I hope you all have very productive years, with no outside influence from NPD. I know the back to school excitement has hit our family even though there is a ways to go before college.

My positive is that I have agreed to a blind date on Saturday night. Ask me on Sunday if I still count this as a positive. By my count this is date #2 since the divorce. Its been a lonely period and I admit some company would be nice.

It rained all day yesterday which was kind of sucky but it turned out all right because I hung around a coffee house most of the afternoon and evening and had a really nice conversation with a woman I've seen around town but don't really know. We talked about just about everything, yes we engaged in small talk and it was enjoyable . There are no definite plans for the future but you just never know where this might lead. :cookiemonster:

TC you are just a wildman lately!

My positive is that my boys and I survived another camping weekend without much incident. I managed to have a chat with my five year old without anyone else around and got to the heart of a very big issue for him. He is very upset that his daddy has moved in with his girlfriend and daughter. I figured as much, but was having a hard time getting him to tell me anything. I'm slowly getting that I just have to let these things come out on their own.

I'm just generally enjoying life these days. It is by no means easy with the boys being upset, me starting the legal ball rolling with my ex, being very busy at work. But I'm trying to keep my attitude upbeat and positive and it seems to be helping. I still have all the issues to deal with, but they don't seem so consuming.

Have a great Monday!

Mel

I just found out that I received a positive job performance rating that will give me a pretty good sized raise. Kind of amazing given how much I hate this place and would give anything to get out.
