Messages to our soldiers from home

Send your messages to our soldiers - This is a board for friends, families and the community who would like to send messages to soldiers in Iraq. NOTE: This is not a board to discuss the war.

Re: Messages to our soldiers from home

Many of us old soldiers feel it is about time that our current'soldiers and airmen are recognized of the problems that occur when away from our loved ones. Even
though I spent 20 years in the Air Force, I did not get any
recognition for service, loss of family separations nor get
much help with family problems. After WWII, Korea, and
Vietnam, heardly anyone cared about our hardships.

Just do the job well and I pray that you will come back with
expectations and have a good life. I am proud to be a part
of the service and that you will feel the same.

Many times I feel guilty while enjoying Independence Day or whatever knowing men and women are giving their lives for my freedom. I pray often for your safety and also pray you may come home soon.

Re: Messages to our soldiers from home

My wife and I have been collecting books, CD's, and DVD's from the yard sales in Boise . We turn them over to the Kiwanis so they can ship them to you . The response has been terrific when they find out it's for our troops instead of selling them they give us all they have , plus money to defray the cost of shipping .
It's a small thing I know, but what ever they can do they do . The smile on there faces when they find they can help makes it all worthwhile . The people are behind you and wish they could do more .

Re: Messages to our soldiers from home

You may be wondering about us folks back home. Well, I can tell you that yellow ribbons are everywhere, people ARE talking about military deployments and how it is affecting the families, and seem very interested in the upcoming elections here. I can tell you that as a soldier's mom, people make comments like "I keep our guys in my prayers every day", "Tell him I send my love and hope he comes home soon", "I really appreciate my freedom and hope that more people can live like we do", etc. I'm telling you, people are being kinder to one another, and even the storekeepers have given me items at cost for my son and I haven't even asked. There have been wonderful, heartfelt prayers said at churches that you will all be home with us soon. Only you who are serving together can truly know the price of freedom, and we at home can only know the pride and loneliness we feel in waiting for your safe return. God Bless!

As a proud Idahoen living in Europe - good luck to you all. Having returned from 1 year in Iraq in Feb, I know a little how you feel. When you get there, keep your eyes open, trust your gut feelings. Will be keeping track of your progress and saying a prayer you all make it back.
