Understanding English/Comp & Grammar

Recently enrolled my dd in 3 courses with AS to see if it suited us. So far so good. One question: we were obliged to take UE. Apparently with new Principal insists that all new students take this course, I did not have the choice of switching with Comp and Grammar. She is finding this course interesting but not much of a challenge. Would it be advisable for her to take C & G after she has done UE or would that be redundant? Perhaps I shd opt for lit. courses instead. Any advice welcome. Tks.

Re: Understanding English/Comp & Grammar

I asked the school about this, and they suggested just switching for C&G, which we did. I was told that it would be redundant to take both UE and C&G. I'm not sure why they are making your daughter take UE, as they generally will let you switch out the mandatory classes, as long as you are switching to a more difficult class. I would call them and ask about it.

Re: Understanding English/Comp & Grammar

My dd just took the Comp & Grammar series, but ds is taking the UE series (he's not much of a writer).

AS suggested that he take Comp & Grammar III and/or IV when done; however, that may be due to my inquiring about research papers.

The UE series doesn't require any reasearch papers and both Comp & Grammar III and IV do.
