How should we handle applications by new members? Interact Reply Quote Report To Mod Last Posts Ignore User Global Ignore Whisper Hey--the whole administrator schtick is a bit new to me. Over the past couple of days I've received e-mails from some people requesting membership in a form e-mail that reads like this: "(Name) has requested approval to join your Membership Screening board (Middleton Mania). To accept or reject this request, click here." I have no idea who they are. There was nothing in the e-mails to indicate who they were from other KP boards, and the only return address is "Middleton Mania." That puts me in a tough spot--if I accept them (as is my usual impulse), I might be letting in spammers or other troublemakers. I have decided that I will be in charge of such things (i.e. we don't want certain people in, is this okay with you, philip?). So just ignore them. I will validate them as nessessary. This was turned on because we had a possible DoS attack (the same ip requesting multiple pages at once). This will not be turned off untill further notice. When I see an address such as qYVbg7greB88ori@nowhere.net, I tend to get suspicious. :P
