Oh, of course they can, Serena! Last time I checked, 'people from outside of the US' does include Canada! Besides, I'm in Canada, now. Yeah, I know, my introduction was kinda lame - but I felt I should say something. :embarrassed: Anyway, I decided to allow guests to post here - so that not everyone has to go through the hassle of registering to join. If we do have problems with that, then I will make it so that everyone has to register - but let's see how this goes, first. Now we got to think of what to have for rules. I don't want to be too strict - but we do have to havve some sense of order here. Anyway, I have a hard time staying asleep - so I decided to check this board.

Much luv! :grouphug:

Well, we certainly could use all the support possible. Trolls need not apply, though. By trolls, I mean either extreme nationalistic Americans who accuse us of being traitors and unpatriotic - or extreme nationalistic Canadians who insist that we have no right to like 'their' music.

Yeap, I'm from Canada, too! I like the idea of Canadian music getting international recognition. It is sad to think about how much good music our southern neighbours are missing out on. Some of us Canadians feel just as passionate about this - as some Americans do. We see this from slightly different viewpoints - but we have the same general agreement. :peck:

I agree with Emily, about the fact that Canadian music should get more recognition.

Keep on rockin'. :canada:

it's be nice to live close to the canadian border - and be exposed to all sorts of canadian music. however, it would really suck to move away from the canadian border - and not be able to get easy access to canadian music.

As a lifelong fan of classic Canadian bands like April Wine trooper and Blue rodeo, its pained me no end to see them not able to break into the lucrative Americsn market. Exposure is the key to success, and this board is a great way to do just that.

I can definitely relate, Jim. I'm sure it also pain the bordertown Americans - and even some who live farther away from the border. I am entirely in favour of promoting Canadian music, in the US. I'm sure that many Americans would like Blue Rodeo - if they knew who Blue Rodeo was. I've always wondered why Canadian music was left off of NAFTA.

It is sad that Canadian music was left off of NAFTA, at any rate.

hey, nice logo, april. anyway, it is nice that april wine did get some recognition in the states - even though it's a shame that they didn't get more.

Nice logo is right April!Canadian Music was not included in NAFTA as much as I can figure because of that dreaded word"protectionism". prevents the export of a lot of good music. April Wine first made a noticeablr impact in the us in 78 with the first glance lp and the tour with rush- more on that to follow.

That is really sad. Actually, I was somewhat familiar with April Wine before I met April - but it wasn't until after I met April, that I started to get more into April Wine.

Having grown up in Buffalo, and moved to New Jersey last year - I really do miss the Canadian culture like crazy. It is nice that we have internet radio - but I still miss being able to just turn on my radio, and hear bands like Sloan or Moist. I also miss Tim Hortons.
