Mad, Sad or Furious? ( 01:07:06 SunDec 15 2002 )

Is anyone mad at Jimmy for giving the Kashmir track to Puffy besides me?

Well, I would be lying if I said I was happy with him for doing that, but I can't really be mad at Jimmy for what he does with his music! I mean, it's his music and his life and he doesn't really need his fans' approval! I mean, don't get me wrong! I wish he didn't do it! But still, it's not really our place to make any judgments on it! Led Zeppelin rules!

I wish he didn't. I can't stand Puff Daddy of P. Diddy or whatever he wants to call himself. But Harmony's right; it is his music and he can do what he wants with it. But still. Puffy did Led Zeppelin a major disgrace.

I think Pagey is awesome and has a right to do what he did, but Puffy sucks! I thik pagey should stay with plant and jonsey, and thats all. Everyone else he works with destroys his masterpieces.

Okay, I'm kinda torn on this one. :uhoh: One one hand, I do realize that it's Jimmy's music and he doesn't need his fans' approval to do whatever he chooses with his music. But on the other hand, I can definately understand being upset over seeing Kashmir get buchered into a rap tune. There's absolutely no telling how I would feel if Paul Simon or Art Garfunkel gave my absolute favourite Simon & Garfunkel song, Bridge Over Troubled Water, over to a rap artist to butcher. :whip: Anyway, I guess being the rational person that I try to be, I can actually view this from both perspectives. :juggle:

I don't really like the song with Puff Daddy, but it really doesn't pay to get mad about it. What's done is done and getting mad about it won't change or undo anything.

What do you think? ( 00:17:34 SunJan 26 2003 )

What do you think about the way this song was integrated into the soundtrack for the movie "Godzilla", when it was broken down into the Zepplin playing the music, and Puff Daddy doing a rap type lyric to it? Inquiring minds want to know??

I didn't like it at all, but it is his music. :bouncepink:

Puff Daddy Remixes Zeppelin ( 16:59:53 SatJun 14 2003 )

Never let it be said that rapper/producer Puff Daddy (a.k.a. Bad Boy Records honcho Sean "Puffy" Combs) limits himself to the hip-hop world. To follow up his collaboration with Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl and pop-rockers Perfect on the "It's All About the Benjamins" remix, Puffy is teaming with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for a remix of that band's legendary track "Kashmir" for the upcoming "Godzilla" soundtrack.

Re: What do you think? ( 15:11:16 ThuOct 2 2003 )

Okay, here are my views on this: we, as the fans, might have certain preferences as to what our favourite artists might choose to do with their music - but, ultimately, it's up to the artists themselves to decide what to do with their music. And we, as the fans, really have no business to be critisising what our favourite artists might choose to do with their music. As somebody had already indicated in this thread, it is *their* music and *they* can do whatever they want with their music. Would I be happy if Myles Goodwyn of April Wine gave one of their songs for a rapper to do? Not especially, but I wouldn't get mad at him about it. I would realize that that it's *his* music and whatever he does with *his* music is his choice and his choice alone - and he does *not* need his fans' approval to do whatever he wants with his music. I'm not saying that we have to agree with every decision that our favourite artists makes - but I do feel that it really is not our place to be telling them what to do with their music. And that's that. :babyblue:

It's up to Jimmy what he wants to do with his music - it really is not up to us to be deciding what he should do with his music. :nonono:

Peace out.

Exactly, what Jimmy does with his music is strictly his business. We don't have to like it - but we do have to respect that the discisions he makes are totally his.

it really is not our place to tell the led zeppelin members what they should do with their music.
