Removing God from society? ( 13:04:26 MonOct 10 2005 )

What do you guys think of that phrase, when Conservative Christians complain about God being removed from our society? That, to me, seems to imply they feel that their religion should be given precedence over all others. What do you think?

God is only removed from Society, when people allow this in their minds

There is a difference between 'removing God' from the government, and 'removing God' from people's personal lives.

HighwayGirl was that an answer to me or TragicallyHipper

I don't really discuss God in amongst my peers or friends… and I really don't hear too much about God on TV or on the radio…

God is part of my life, God is all around me right? and all around you too? I don't have to be reminded about God through Media or School
I just know God is all around me… :peck:

Cheers! :flowers:

Re: Removing God from society? ( 04:13:20 TueOct 11 2005 )

Yeah, we really don't need to push God onto everyone. You see, I have my own personal relationship with God. I can tell God anything that's on my mind, and I know he is there listening to me. I remember a few times, when I was feeling sad, I felt an arm around my shoulder - and I knew God was there with me. I never really feel lonely, because I always have God to talk to. There have been a few jams that God has helped me out of.

You see, the God that I worship is not harsh and judgement. He is very gentle, loving, and compassionate. I am comforted by God's presense. I feel safe and secure when I'm alone in my room, talking to God.

You see, I don't need the Fundamentalists Christians pushing their version of God onto me. Their version of God is harsh and judgemental, but that is not the God that I worship.

I love God and I love Jesus with all of my heart. I know they really care about me ~ and they really care about you ~ and they care about all of humanity. They want everyone to be happy and treat one another with loving care.

Sadly, many non-Christians I know are more loving that many of the Fundamentalist Christians. Now I'm not saying that all of the Fundamentalist Christians are wacko. Many of them are very sincere in their faith, and care about humanity ~ and those are the people that I respect. It's the judgemental types that I find to be a turn-off, though.

You know, I'm trying to be more open-minded - although I still don't believe anything more exists than the physical universe. My best friend thinks differently, though. She doesn't affiliate herself with any religion, but she believe that a spiritual universe does exist. Well, I respect her beliefs, so…

Anyway, yeah, we really don't need religion being shoved down our throat. I mean, I don't need to be told that I am evil because I don't believe in God. I try to be a very nice and compassionate person. It's the whole treating other people how you would like to be treated. No offence, but many religious people really do not practice what they preach.

Re: Removing God from society? ( 21:47:38 TueOct 11 2005 )

I pretty much have the same beliefs as you do, Jessie. The Fundamentalists' view of God is terrifying to me - but that doesn't mean I don't love Jesus?

Who is Jesus exactly? That I'm not sure of. To Christians, he is the Son of God. To Muslims, he is the second to the last great prophet. He is also of some significance to Buddhists and Hindus. I think some see him as a sort of a demigod. Anyway, none of that really matters for me. I just love Jesus, and I really admire him. I talk to Jesus a lot - and sometimes he talks back to me. He is someone I can confide in, and someone I know who will not judge me.

Sometimes, I can feel God's presense around me. If I take a walk through the woods or the country, I can feel God. Even if I'm by myself, I don't feel alone - because I know God is right next to me.

Anyway, about the government endorsing God - well, why should they? Everyone has their own spiritual path. Nobody likes to have someone else's religion shoved down his or her throat.

Peace out.

Thank you! JessieBabe, CanadaBound and PyxiStyx…

I am rather shy to talk about my beliefs in a Forum that is really about the Music…

Jessie and Pyxi, nice outlook you both have… It's only really been in the last few months, I have become 'spiritual'. I like to walk with The Lord, and I always know he is there to listen and help with guidance, when need be…
I am real bright person, I don't know why, I am having such hardship, trying find a job! Except, I got some dreary news last week that there are very few job openings and each opening gets 1000 applicants
So where does that leave me  I can't please… I spent 7 days in tears… my face has just recovered I have been 4 days without tears… Just, a little bit of good news would help me now… it's just not happening!
who should I talk to… there is only one person, that does listen… I am sure things will turn around, right? if not… I am going to be heading for the nearest Women's Shelter  I have no one!

Cheers! :flowers:

You know, I think I might give this spiritual thing a try. For all of you who are willing - not that I'm saying you have to do this - but why don't you try talking to God, and ask Him to help Debbey. Debbey really could use all the support that she needs. For for those of you who believe in the power of prayer, try praying for Debbey, okay? We're all behind her on this, right?

My good thoughts are with you, Debbey! :peck:

Thanks Tragically Hipper… I have been trying to have such a positive outlook… I am sorry… :peck:
Just more bad news today… it was sort of good… I was given a temporary assignment, everything was a go… and then at the end of the day the company cancelled with the agency… Such rotten luck… Well it was only a 6 day assignment… still, it was a little more encouraging…

I feel so degraded as a human being… you know kind of worthless… There is no reason, I shouldn't be getting calls when I am applying for jobs if people are reading my resume! I have so many skills, transferrable experience and skills. I am a technical sales representative!

Anyway, Back At It again in the morning!

Thanks again! TragicallyHipper, you are a sweetheart :peck:

Cheers! :flowers:

Re: Removing God from society? ( 12:22:12 WedOct 12 2005 )

To be honest, I haven't prayed in about a year, since I've been questioning my religion. On the other hand, though, I really do feel bad about Debbey's situation. Just curious, Jessie and Pyxi, how do you start out and end your talks with God. Do you say 'amen' at the end? I am interested in a spiritualism of some sort, but I'm not sure of where I stand right now.

Also, on a side note, I tend to envy those who have spiritual experiences. I don't remember ever having a spiritual experience, or God talking to me. Through these past few years, I would worry that I wasn't a good enough Christian, and I might not go to heaven. The whole issue with politics just made me question more. Any suggestions here?

April :peck:
Today, 'we' (Rock n Rolla) may have experienced :juggle:
I am not sure, if it was a message from God, giving us all guidance… or :juggle:

It seems, as much as some of us are struggling with different 'Faiths' etc…

Well, I think God is paying attention and is trying to steer us in the right direction!

First! never do I want to read articles on 'Hell' unless you post proper references… and Links! What happened here today was so scary at first… and 'we' are working to clean it up and get answers!

We had a major disturbance here in Debbey Rocks today… this is a brand new forum
Poor LedZeppelinHarmony, what a dear sweet person :peck:

April, I would love to answer your questions on praying and talking with God… however, we have our own ways of communicating with God!

You should research Spirituality… you will find this is very neutral and doesn't particularily support anyone's 'Faith'… many Catholics are very Spiritual and this I think is because of Confessional… I am not sure… maybe AprilWineChick or JessieBabe can explain this a little more… I think Jessie is a Catholic too…

All, I know is, I think, what happened today was aimed at me! :juggle: This is why some of you who are dabbling in other Faiths outside of recognized religions… such as Faeri or Wicca and really non God, beliefs… should keep these beliefs to yourself! said without 'prejudice'

Well, anyway, April if you want some links to read… send me a Private Message, and I will help you if I can! :peck:

Cheers! :flowers:

I'm sorry about what happened earlier today. I should have just posted a link, and left it at that, so I apologize. I was hoping the article would help some of you gain a different perspective on hell. That must be very terrifying to fear you might suffer eternally in hell.

Debbey is right, though. How about we all try to keep our beliefs to ourselves. Obviously, CanadaBound is getting a little tired of our religious talk. She has the right to be an atheist, just like the rest of us have a right to our own beliefs.

No one is really struggling with Hell at the moment… that I am aware of…

And if anyone is… contact me via PM… and in the mean time… if you would like me to address this issue one more time, I will…

The article you tried to post… was one person's opinion and was rather scary for anyone struggling… I have a gentler way of approaching this subject…

Cheers! :flowers:

Well, no, I don't mind you guys talking about religion and spirituality. I just don't believe in that sort of stuff, that's all. I was always logical minded. Heck, I don't even remember ever believing in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy.
