HipSux sez: I hate the Hip ~ All About Dislike (wink) ( 04:06:54 ThuAug 11 2005 )

Sorry, but it's true. I hate them. They are the worst band in the world. Gordon Downey is trying too hard to be Michael Stipe. He even has that earphone thing happening. PLease, be original, Gordon. Their songs completely lack originality. I thought Bobcaygeon was the worst song I ever heard until I heard the Poets song. This is just wrong. And I hear Gordie Baby's got a collection of poetry out. What a pretentious idiot. well, I know I won't be popular for saying these things. But I just had to. Bye for now…Gonzo

You know, I am not going to berate you for your opinions. You have a right to think whatever you want to about The Hip. However, what purpose do you think it serves to come here and tell us all how you think The Hip 'sucks'?

Hey, listen! I'm not too fond of The Hip myself. However, I do respect other people's rights to listen to the music they enjoy. Why don't you talk about the music you do like? I mean, I'd rather focus on what I like than on what I don't like. I just don't listen to what I don't like. Okay, maybe the radio station you listen to plays The Hip - and mine don't. I listen to an all 70s music radio station - so, quite naturally, they wouldn't play The Hip. However, there are other songs that station plays that I don't care for. I just turn off the radio and listen to a CD for awhile.

Whoa! I missed this topic, how :juggle:

I am sorry Hip Fans… but

I know a Gonzo from Q107… I have started hearing his voice again on Q107 ads…
There is another Gonzo… perhaps from Kim Mitchell's Message Board or one of the April Wine Message Boards…

HipSux :joker: :clown:
and welcome… I am the All Time 'Hip Fence Sitter' :hippy:
Cheers! :flowers:

From Forum Archives:

this post really hurt
Quote: debbey at 13:17:36 Sun Sep 18 2005

The April Wine Forum, here at Rock n Rolla… has become a nightmare, for me

It amazes me how fans of bands… just don't let things 'rest'… why is it so necessary, to drag up a whole bunch of the past and post about it in an internet forum, that is not even related to the original band's forum? :juggle:

:wowsmilie:
I don't have to defend myself… Everyone knows me, now…
It's not like I attacked April Wine or anything…

It does go to show you, how fans egos fly…
I haven't really been part of AprilWine's Message Board for more than a year now… and from time to time, I do read negativity from other fans… at AprilWine.ca

Anyway! Let's all Rise Above it… like we, 'Hip Fans' did with HipSux… although! I wanted to take a strip off of HipSux… I LOVE THE TRAGICALLY HIP! please don't put them down this way!

Cheers! :flowers:

Well, I understand that not everyone does like The Hip. I guess they are a band that many people either love ot hate! I mean, I had a hard time getting my friends in Philidelphia to like them.

Everytime, I hear *Poets* which I just did a few minutes ago.. I always think of HipSux
and his 'distaste' for this song  and how HipSux thinks Gord Downie is 'Pretentious' ....

I guess, I should add a post from PilotSpeed's Message board to this topic

I guess Roo.. and I were posting at the same time

Really, Todd said, he felt the title *Sell Control For Life's Speed* is pretentious.. hmmm.. I had to think about it.. Reflect.. I have been in a bit of medative state.. writing for Lent

I must say I have been laughing.. I think that is so funny.. Pretentious? who Todd?
*Knife Grey Sea* is a very true 'tale'.. Todd gets 5 stars.. lyrically it is very creative and poetic.. *Knife Grey Sea* is very magical & mystical.. actually, very Spiritual.. For me, it's a 'blessing'.. someone is very sensitive and observative..

The other reason I laughed... someone mysteriously posted about someone being very 'pretentious'.. and that 'pretentious someone'.. wrote a very lovely song in this regard..

Mr. Sell Control For Life's Speed will always be..

*Knife Grey Sea* - Musically & Lyrically rates a perfect 6 out of 5 stars..

~and I have never been fond of *Into The West* being the title of *Sell Control For Life's Speed* in the US.. It would have been more wise going with *Pilot Speed - Self Titled* as it is an American Only Debut.. and for the rest of the world.. *Sell Control For Life's Speed* is just so fine.

Maybe someone will upload the 'very little' to YouTube.. I'd really like to see it..

Cheers!

I really love the song *Pretend* although you can only 'Pretend' for so long then the feeling is gone and forgotten

Cheers! :flowers:

I couldn't agree more HighwayGirl..

Here's some more.. which I didn't know where to post... the *Poets* blurb...

In this whole 4 pages, I don't think we rated *Knife Grey Sea* the longest running song at MySpace/Pilate! & PilotSpeed
And as pretty much of the time, I am the 1st play in the morning, I have been keeping the stats daily.. and have the time and date when Pilot Speed reached 300,000 plays.. I sat here and cheered! Now they are on their way to 325,000 plays.. When *A Kind of Hope* was uploaded.. this was mostly 1st play of the day. When they switched to *Alright* it was always a toss up between *Alright* or *Barely Listening*..For the last 2 weeks or so >*Knife Grey Sea* has been my 1st play.. I kind of cheer within.. I have a real passion for this song. It's like a bond.
*Knife Grey Sea* ~ Mystically Haunting
she steals a magic car
and drives across to your star
climb into the seat and
*Sell Control For Life's Speed*[]

I really have a fond memory of this song.. the first time I heard it, it was live in my favourite venue.. The Legendary Horseshoe..
The next day I was so excited to see Pilate! had uploaded *Knife Grey Sea* to their MySpace Page.
she sails a *Knife Grey Sea*
and carelessly is lonely
Right on top the sails
she spies the prow in your whale

I could write a story inspired by *Knife Grey Sea*.. I don't know how to explain the feeling of 'being connected'.. it seems so 'real to me'..
Every time I hear The Hip's *Poets*.. I always think of *Knife Grey Sea* I just changed my mind, I am switching this post to the Meaning of Songs Thread and adding my post from the CBC Thread Once upon a time, I heard a live version of *Poets* and Gord went into a rant which sounded like he was responding to *Knife Grey Sea* and this post.. (well not this post the one in my forum)
