The Clash ( 06:55:48 WedDec 14 2005 )

12/14/1979

For their third full-length, the Clash release a double-album titled London Calling, later dubbed the best album of the '80s by Spin magazine.

Oh, yes, I love The Clash! I have their London Calling album. They were for sure a great punk band.

Re: The Clash ( 23:17:29 WedDec 14 2005 )

Well, the fact that the members of The Clash hated Led Zeppelin does put a bad taste in my mouth. Yeah, I understand that everybody has a right to their opinions - but it's the fact that the members of The Clash were so vocal about it. So it's hard for me to really enjoy their music.

Yeah, I'm not really a Clash fan, myself - although, I do like The Ramones.

Well, I like their music, anyway. I don't really care what their personal opinions are.

Peace out.

Well, that is true that they are entitled to their own opinions. Still it's the fact that they were vocal about disliking Led Zeppelin that makes it hard for me to enjoy their music.

Re: The Clash ( 15:32:03 MonDec 19 2005 )

Well, I like The Clash. I don't let the fact that they've disliked other bands that I like deter me from enjoying their music. Actually, I've started liking The Clash before I found out that they've disliked Led Zeppelin. To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I found out that they've disliked Led Zeppelin… but, still, that didn't lessen my enjoyment of their music any. I was able to look past their personal opinions… and just enjoy the music, as I have before.

They did inject new blood into a sagging music scene.

Re: The Clash ( 01:10:49 TueDec 20 2005 )

Well, you have to realize that they were a punk band. It was considered 'cool' to not like the rock bands of the late-60s/early-70s. Later on, though, they did admit to liking Led Zeppelin.

Well, even if they never did admit to liking Led Zeppelin, would that have changed your mind, any?

Peace out.

I know Zeppelin were influenced to a degree by The Clash as well; listen to In Through The Out Door.

Well, Wearing and Tearing from Coda sounds a bit punkish.

I wonder what that was like for Bo Diddley. While he was probably not well known to Clash fans, he is generally revered by musicians themselves.

Well, God bless him, he is 77 years old and was still performing last year!

He wrote the song "Love Is Strange" sung by Mickey and Sylvia (which became a hit again with the movie Dirty Dancing)
