Hi there.
I am happy to say I will be running in the 95 class this year - this will be my first time to Arnold and I was hoping a few may be kind enough to share some course notes and tips for those who have not run this course. I plan to visit Arnold in advance and takes notes as well, but again anything in advance would be much appreciated. Thanks. Chris |

Watch for the Road signs. They will tell you if the road is going to turn, and don't get a wheel off the road... its just sand covered in grass, so one wheel will pull the other three off.
Slow down for the corners and don't exceed tech on the straights and you'll do fine. Video your first year's run and you'll see all of the places you could have gone faster, where to take the blind hills, etc. so you can run faster next year. What we found was going up each 5 mph speed class increases the intensity about 50%, so the 115 is 50% more intense than the 110 and the 120 is another 50% more intense than the 115, so its a good idea to move up in small steps. Someone that goes from the say the 100 to the 115 are going to have a huge shock of how much faster you have to run... because getting to Dunning isn't the tough part... its the south run, that is much harder than the run north. If you are running north and have time in the bank, don't slow down. Keep the time in the bank, because it might come in handy for the south run. I shoot for 5.00 mph in the bank going north. It's a lot easier to cross the south finish perfect @ 95 mph than it is @ 137 mph and we've tried it both ways.

Here's a shot of the course northbound that I am playing with in Google Earth showing the elevation changes. Thought that was kinda cool.
