This is a spreadsheet I made to make it a little easier to calculate your various stop watch times.
Right click on download link, and save link as. add .xls at end of file name and save. It should open in spreadsheet. Good Luck. If you are having problems with the download, please email let me email you the file. kortmeyer@inebraska.com [ Attached File: RacingtimechartL2Lcourse.xls - downloaded 46 times]

Right click to save it to your computer, then rename the file with an .xls extension and it will open in excel.
The only probllem with the sheet is the Northbound L2L is measured in miles, but the southboud course is measured in "Joemiles". To convert Joemiles back to miles, you have to multiply your distance readings by the "joefactor" when laying out your flags. The times are right, but your speedo/Odo will be different going north and south. A few of us can switch our Speedos to read JMPH and ODO's to read in M's/KM's and JM's so we are good. The rest of you are pretty much screwed. For the L2L, I'm going to say the mile/flag method is no way to win a race or even get consistently close... Not on a course with 80 degree corners right before the finish line. For the northbound run it should work fine.... but, a $50 garmin III, a good launch and running it between .1 mph and 0 mph under your desired average speed has an OK probability of getting you within 1 second, on the north run, without the stopwatches, the course littering ribbons/stakes or the math.

Your right chris, I failed to recognize the Joe factor in my calculations. I will try to do better next time.
Once you have the sheet on your computer, you will be able to change the calculations. Also, if anyone needs me to email the spreadsheet to them, just let me know. kortmeyer@inebraska.com Regards Big Al

for Reference, a Joemile is .9905 miles.
Some people will say "that is close enough" but those people will also be off over 5 seconds at the finish in the 75 mph class, because they actually are averaging 75.72 JMPH. The great thing about the south run is people are 5 seconds fast, then they lose 5 seonds in the final turn, and it all works out.
