This is the FAQ for The Test Drive.

1. How can I get a signature for my messages?

Go to "User CP" at the top of the screen and click the button that says "Edit Signatures." Type your sig in the box and click "Save Changes". You must use BbCodes because HTML will not work. You can click on the different links under "BbCode" to insert different features into your sig.

You can make sigs with different names, and the default name is "Signature". If you want your sig to show up every time you post, you need to go to the drop-down menu below your post that says "Don't Include Sig" and select which sig you want to appear.

2. I want my name, link and picture all centered in my sig. How do I do that?

Here's what the code for something like this would look like.

[center]My name is Jeff (hit Enter twice)

[link=www.mysite.com]MY SITE[/link] (hit Enter twice again)

[image]http://www.mysite.com/mypicname.jpg[/image][/center]

3. How do I get those pictures in the left column like everyone else has?

Go to your User CP and click "Edit Settings". The Personal Pic (Avatar) cannot be larger than 150x150 pixels, and the Personal Icon can't exceed 60x60. In each box, enter the web address (URL) of the picture you wish to use, and also input the width and height of your images.

4. Why is there a red X where my avatar/icon should be?

An X means that something is wrong with the URL you entered. Go back and recheck your URL for any typos or missing letters. Also, check the file extension you have entered. If the picture you want to use is spongebob.JPG, then spongebob.GIF will not work.

Also, make sure you have uploaded your picture to your own server. One mistake that many people make is linking to a picture on their computer. For example, linking your image to C:\My Documents\spongebob.JPG will not work. Your picture MUST be uploaded to a server.

Finally, your picture might not show up because it was uploaded to a server that does not allow direct linking. Some places like Geocities do not allow you to link to images you host there from a different server besides their own.

A few rules to note

1. If you are going to do a test, start your own new topic. Do not tag onto someone else's test unless you want to add comments or help them with their sig/icon/avatar. If you've started a test thread don't run your test again in a new thread. Keep it all in one thread.

2. Don't direct link to pictures from other people's websites. This is bandwidth theft and strains the servers. People pay money for their webspace and don't want you using their pictures and limiting who can see them. Save them to your own server. It's free. If you hotlink to something that isn't yours you will be banned and your picture removed.
